Hi, I subscribed a long time ago, when this group was 'quite' active.
Are there any others out there who would like to see a thready thing
start?

PS:- I have a 7d with the lenses I bought with my original 1987 film
version, the dynax . I also have a Mamiya rb67 , still a superb
camera.

Actually, I'm returning to this usenet group. I have to find some
old posts re: my 7i, to get back to an Australian poster who
figured out how to add a generic power plug so that he could
power his camera from a home-made external D-cell belt pack.
These cameras really rip through their AA batteries by turning so
much of their power into heat. That's my regular issue. We have
to buy expensive high-capacity batteries, and still, our shot
quantity is very limited.

My God! Another human being! Let me dust off a chair...

This place is so dead, it even only gets random moonbat spam once
every year or so... ;}

Got one of the original Maxxum 7000's back in '85 (even had the
original overlapping XX logo from before Exxon sued 'em). Then a
couple 9000's which were stolen in a '93 burglary and replaced with
two 9xi's. 7D in 2004, and a Sony Alpha A550 in 2010. Pile of lenses
from various manufacturers, favorite of which is a Sigma 'Bigma'
50~500 zoom.

Only downside is they seem to be getting heavier with time...

The main worry is that Sony are in a mess and there will never be a full
frame digital back for all my glass at a sensible price. :-(

Richard,

two points,

Firstly, I have posts from 2003 (downloading now)
Do you know the handle by which the Aussie posted?

Secondly

You have the following after your post

'Because of spam, other abuse, and behavior tracking, all
posts from gmail and Google Groups are deleted unread.
Please use a different service. Thank you.'

Was that associated with your usenet account>

Unfortunately, no.
I believe that I'd been using Internet Explorer, which mangled
all saved posts very badly. Ironically, they were exhumed by
being imported into Thunderbird, which I believe is more robust.

No. I set up this filter for myself, mostly for the freeware
usenet group which is a playground for vandals. On all boards, if
you explore the normally-invisible message headers, it becomes
obvious that almost all the spam on usenet comes through Google's
services. Kill those, and almost all spam vanishes. Try it!

So, that's why the following statement is part of my signature block.
