When asked, years afterward, why his charge at Gettysburg failed,
General Pickett said: "I've always thought the Yankees had something to
do with it."

The sheeple of Britain didn't revolt when they were forced to buy
health insurance.
Neither did they revolt anywhere else. I guess people everywhere else
knew a good bargain when they saw it.
That's why they are "sheeple."
Though I know it's a stretch for typical intellectually lazy, "ends
justify the means" leftwinger, why not try finding a few actual
British born-and-raised persons (complete with accent and all the
bells and whistles) who live in America and ask them which system they
like better. I know several, and not one of them is very fond of the
way their homeland government runs much of anything.
Have a nice day.
The people (not 'sheeple', a term usually used by pretentious gits) of
Britain voted for it in several elections as long ago as 1906-1910.
They voted for an extension of the system in 1945.
Opinion polls suggest that the present American people support a
Public Option in health reform....
Please bugger off....
Dr. Barry Worthington
But you are just an arrogant and ignorant colonial merkin! What would
you know about our NHS?
Dr. Barry Worthington
> Have a nice day.
Well if it isn't our resident limey nebbish with a doctorate written
on the back of a napkin and no demonstrable knowledge of anything
relevant! How's thing?
BTW, at least I make an effort to educate myself by seeking out others
on issues of other countries than my own, while you have only shown
you know what your far leftwing sources tell you and what your limited
intellect will allow you to believe.
What's amazing is how limited you are and yet how condescending you
are towards others about it.
Truly amazing!
Have a nice day.
A term inspired by one of your country's best writers, and meant in
the same way he did. I had no idea the Brits think of Orwell so
poorly. Perhaps do a thorough examination of your country's
educational standards, as they must be pretty low.

There you go again, thinking you know something about our nation by
picking only the leftwing information that serves your needs while
ignoring actual facts.
Our people want health care to be reformed in some way, but they are
not sure how to do it. They are extremely skeptical of the details of
Democrats' plans, especially the public option, the requirement for
each person to enroll or face fines and imprisonment, and how it will
affect other health programs currently in use.
This is certainly not the time for the rushed vote the Democrats want,
when so few of the millions affected by the bill have been properly
informed on its contents, benefits, and consequences.

Same to you. Stop pretending you have an education in anything other
than leftwing boilerplate.
But anyone can see what you are! Your webname might be enough for some
people, but a glance at your posting history reveals a familiar
pattern.......you are just a silly immature troll.

As Marx (Groucho) once said "I'll have whatever day I damn well
please!"
Dr. Barry Worthington
Well, unlike you, I've actually read Orwell (aka Eric
Blair)...including his essays and journalism in his 'Collected Works'.
Of course, if you had actually read him, you would know that he was a
socialist until his dying day. He would make very short work of
ignorant merkins...colonial or otherwise....

Oh, but they do! They want a Public Option....

Actually, it's only a minority of nutters who think that way....people
like you...

What rushed vote?

Crawl back under your stone....or at least stop trying to deceive
people...
Goodbye,
Dr. Barry Worthington
And quite apparently you did not understand any of it, but your
arrogance makes you 'think' that you did.

I'm sure, but your brand of leftism would make his look rightwing
fanatical by contrast, and he would have done away with you much
quicker.

Arrogant ass to the end, no matter how wrong you are. You have no idea
about us or what our people want. Go eat some blood pudding and leave
the prognosticating to better people than you.

The fact that you don't know about how rushed it's been shows how
little you know about our legislative process.

As I said, stop pretending you have an education in anything other
than leftwing boilerplate.
Have a nice day.
Plonk!!!!!
Dr. Barry Worthington
Ummmm, you do grasp that most people are already "taxed" for health
insurance, whether they want it or not?
It's called employer-provided health insurance. Try being a healthy
worker and telling your employer you don't want the insurance, you
want the money instead....
Say, I know what you're the editor of: Little Big Books! On your
planet they're college text books.
The British aren't required to sign up for the National Health Service,
and for those who do in fact sign up for it, the cost is a pittance
compared to the $5-6 thousand dollars PER PERSON that Americans will be
required to pay for an insurance policy. And that's the current price.
There's nothing in the current discussion that will set premium
prices, so by the time the "individual mandate" becomes a requirement in
three years, the price of the premium could very well be double that,
$10-12 thousand PER PERSON. When they started requiring auto liability,
the prices went up about 60%. The current health care "re-form" from
the ObamaTapDancer is nothing more than a gift to the Insurance Industry.
Email your elected officials and ask them how much money they've
accepted from the Pharmaceutical and Insurance Industries during the
last five years:

There's no other nation on the planet that has anything that looks even
remotely like the health care "re-form" from the ObamaConArtist. A
country that has an insurance mandate, like Switzerland, regulates the
prices of both premiums and medical fees, and in Switzerland, they pay
about ONE-THIRD what Americans are going to be forced to pay, and that's
using current premium prices. The odds are that the $5-6 thousand PER
PERSON being discussed will rise significantly by the date the
"individual mandate" takes effect in 1913. The only reason there hasn't
been a revolt yet is that there has been very little coverage of the
enormous size of the "individual mandate."
Americans aren't required to apply for Social Security Numbers, but
the government makes life impossible without one.
NHS premiums are SUBSIDIZED, which is why they are 'cheaper' than
private American policies. In addition to premiums, NHS receives
funding from income taxes and the 15% VAT, as well as a portion of
auto insurance premiums which pays for accident-related injuries.
And why is that a problem?
Dr. Barry Worthington
It takes effect in 2013, of course, not 1913.
The British health care solution is almost exactly like the school
system in the US. About 90% go to free public or almost-free parochial
schools, and the 10% richest send their kids to tuition-based private
schools. The original poster claimed that the British didn't object to
being required to purchase health insurance, however this is absolutely
not based in reality. The British health care solution is like our
school system and bears no resemblance to the proposed health care
"re-form" from the ObamaConArtist, which can be simply summarized as
this: "If you have insurance, you get to keep it; if you don't, you're
going to be forced to buy it." ObamaCare is nothing more than a gift to
the Insurance Industry in the amount of hundreds of billions of dollars
annually (US 'billions'). The benefits of the "re-form" is that the
very poor will now get Medicaid whether they have children or not, the
upper middle class will get to keep their insurance whenever they change
jobs, and the Insurance Industry will get hundreds of billions of
dollars a year as a gift, most of this being funded by the "individual
mandate" in which people making $25-50,000 annually will be paying
thousands of dollars each year to the Insurance Industry.
