Becky Silmon heard that a World War II veteran needed help, so she
took a vacation day from her job at Glenwood Regional Medical Center
to lend a hand.
Silmon, 42, and other volunteers from the West Monroe medical center
were at W.H. "Tiny" Clampit's Coleman Street home in West Monroe on
Friday morning painting and cleaning.
"They said he needed help.... I like helping others and cleaning, so I
took a vacation day and here I am," Silmon said. "I also love to hear
his stories."
The West Monroe Community Center organized the volunteer work detail
at Clampit's home as part of its observat...
