Pedophile guru canonized as a saint

Eknath Easwaran, founder of the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation in
Tomales, California seems to have been canonized as a saint.
Remarkable- considering his background both in the United States and
in India.
Eknath Easwaran left India in a hurry to evade court ordered
restitution for bigamy and child support.
His Fulbright fellowship to the University of Minneapolis was revoked
by the Institute of International Education. Desperate to offer
spiritual redemption to white women, Eknath discarded two wives with
minor children in India and founded the meditation center. He had an
obsession of being massaged semi naked. The San Jose Mercury News
reported ( April 30, 1989) that he had made sexual advances to many
of
his disciples.
Later, the Point Reyes Light reported that Eknath’s favorite male
disciple who was chief mentor to new spiritual aspirants was arrested
for seeking child sex at Chicago airport. The defense of some of
Eknath’s disciples at the time was that this was the first step to
accelerated spiritual nirvana.
For one who had renounced material wealth, Eknath led a great life-
big
breasted women to cater to every physical need, a new luxury car
every
year, a sprawling estate in one of the most expensive areas of
California (Marin County)
Eknath got permanent residence in the United States through the time
tested method of marriage to an American citizen. Later his niece
adopted the same method. The niece is now a faculty member in the
Davis (California) Unified School District.
A remarkable metamorphosis for a bigamist, dead beat father and child
molester- to a revered saint !!
