The importance of AUM to enlightenment.

Though sound has a profound influence on human emotions it has never
led to enlightenment -- except for Nichiren, who, upon throwing away a
tile while cleaning his garden heard it clang and became instantly
enlightened, and maybe parrots twittering: "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo".

In his book and the accompanying CD, "The Yoga of Sound", Russill Paul
stresses the fact that AUM should be pronounced as AUUUUM.
Pronouncing the sound AUM, and even stretching the syllable "UUUU"
TEMPORARILY, or resonating the nasal cavities in a vocal "MM" might be
comforting to the practitioner it does not accelerate transformation.

The REAL SECRET of AUM is to CONTINUOUSLY TENSE the top throat muscles
in a SILENT, PROLONGED "UUUU" -- keeping the tongue relaxed to permit
free breathing.

Silent tensing causes constant firing of the top rear throat muscles,
at a high rate.
Three types of MECHANORECEPTORS carry the signal back to the brain in
a PHYSICAL FEEDBACK LOOP.

This puts the brain in the necessary PHYSICAL state to TRAP and FREE
the MIND from suffering through self-forgetting -- enlightenment.

Happy Awakenings.
