The Writings of The Island Story Teller - 1. On Mission.

The mission of The Island Story Teller community is to promote peace and
harmony through the dissemination of positive emotion through sound, soul
and imagination, healing the Earth and all her inhabitants with the magic of
music and the sharing of loving thought. We will accomplish this through the
writings of The Island Story Teller, through the free thought, writings and
music of Spirit Friends, and through the collective will of our community.

So where does this come from? It sounds like a lofty goal, especially from
some hitherto unknown nut job that calls himself The Island Story Teller!

But if you think about it, there really isn't anything lofty or grandiose
about promoting peace and harmony. The Island Story Teller sincerely
believes it is the common desire of most clear-thinking souls to support
this.

But how is it realistically possible to promote such basic but elusive
concepts as peace and harmony?

First, one must agree that there exists an absence of peace and harmony in
the World. Sure, there are pockets here and there, but an objective look at
the World shows without doubt that we are seriously lacking in those areas.
And The Island Story Teller doesn't just blame terrorists and war-mongering
nations. It's about everyday arguing, bickering, nagging, fighting,
bullying, road rage, envy, unhealthy competition, hatred, intolerance etc.
etc. The list could go on for pages.

I refer to clear-thinking souls. This is an important concept.

In my writings I use the terms soul and spirit interchangeably, and when I
do so I am referring to that part of the human entity that is self. The
essence of the person that some believe will survive the body into eternity.
It is the part of us that thinks.

The sentient bit.

I believe that our sentient bits cannot think clearly against all the
background noise of the World, so we don't properly assess our condition.

And that means we are functioning outside of our condition.

And that means we're looking at the world and making life decisions out of
context, allowing chaos, negativity, and anything but peace and harmony to
permeate our lives. (More on background noise in future writings).

Which brings us to the next part of our mission statement, which is about
sound, soul and imagination. To free ourselves from background noise, which
we only hear, we need to take the time to listen elsewhere, and to choose
wisely the sources for our listening, and how we listen, not just with ears
but also with spirit.

That is what I mean by sound.

To properly discern and absorb the meaning of our sounds we need to be open
and, more importantly, precisely tuned to our sources.

That is the soul.

And finally, we must dream what is possible outside of our current reality.

That is imagination.

Our mission statement goes on to declare that we will somehow heal the Earth
and all her inhabitants through the magic of music and the sharing of loving
thought.

Quite a declaration. The Earth herself? All her inhabitants?

Well, I concede, this is a mission statement not a hard target. But material
progress toward this goal is achievable if we pull together as a community
of Spirit Friends.

And The Island Story Teller believes that with the eventual alignment of
mankind, nature and universe, an environment of peace and harmony will
indeed heal the Earth and all her inhabitants!

It will happen under those conditions. There really is no challenge there.
Do you disagree? We can discuss this more as our story unfolds.

So we will create the natural pure sounds of music and loving thought, with
written and spoken word, to set free our spirit so we may discern our
condition. So we may exist within our condition. In peace, and in harmony.

We will do this together as Spirit Friends. And we will grow our community
until we reach the staggering number of one.
