DVD Corrupted

I am trying to play a DVD that has gotten scratched in the post. It
arrived loose in the case. However no scratches are visible. It plays
OK in my laptop - but jumps in a number of places. Then the picture
freezes but the audio track keeps playing. In one serious place the
picture and audio stops - it freezes for a few minutes then restarts 6
minutes on in the film. I am trying to capture the entire dvd to make
an error free version. Is there any way of pulling off (ripping)
corrupted VOB files? I have tried direct copying to hard-disk but two
of the 5 VOB files are corrupted completely and wont copy. Thanks -
