Functional foot orthotics are generally designed to provide correction and
are usually a hard shell device, whereas accommodative devices are
generally designed to provide comfort and some level of correction and are
of usually made of a soft material. In my own software, accommodative
devices are assumed to be soft material and are held in place by a vacuum
chuck while they are milled, but on one side only.
