Sarah Storey storms to a record 17th Paralympic gold
----------------------------------------------------

Sixteen years after an ear infection forced her to quit swimming, Dame
Sarah Storey has cycled into the record books with a 17th Paralympic
gold medal. Storey, 43, from Eccles, Greater Manchester, is now
Britain's most successful ever Paralympian.

She won her first gold aged 14 at the 1992 Barcelona games, as a
swimmer. After competing in the pool at three further games she switched
to cycling in 2005 after ear infections left her with chronic fatigue
syndrome.

She won her first cycling gold in 2008 in Beijing, and arrived in Tokyo
with 50 world championship or Paralympic medals in the sport. But her
greatest achievement is returning to sport after becoming a mother, she
told Sky Sports news.
