A few days ago I read on this list about various air cleaners that people
have used with varying degrees of success. The comment was made that the
"forced air" filters work well and don't seem to leave the grungy film
all over the walls, that others sometimes do.

Bionaire was mentioned as a good brand. What I need to know is this: Are
*all* Bionaire air cleaners the forced air type, or only some of them? I
really need one of these machines, but I don't want to repeat the
unfortunate experience some of you have had with dirty walls, etc. Can
anyone post the model number or any other distinguishing features of the
*good* Bionaires, so I can choose the right model? (I don't even know if
we're talking about a stand-alone model that sits in a bedroom or a
furnace-mounted model.)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I own both a Bionaire F150 and F250. Both come with a switchable
"negative ion generator." While the benefits of negative ions are
controversial, they do have one definite side effect: Dust particles
become ionized, causing them to stick to the cabinets, walls, and
anything else that I have left near the units. So if this annoys you,
it's probably best to switch the ion generator off.

I have an older Bionaire air filter and ionizer that I want to get up and
running again. However, I need new filters for it. Does anyone out there have
the phone number or mailing address for Bionaire so that I can order more ??

Thanks much!

Whiel I can't post a definitive list, I myself have enjoyed my Bionaire
F-150 (identical to the 150, but different from the 150-S I believe - what
a nightmare). It's a small standalone machine - but bionaire makes two or
three smaller units - i just would not bother with them as our apartment
has largish rooms.

It's ideally suited to I would guess a 10' by 10' bedroom. On medium
speed, which is where I leave it, it is a 'little' noisy, but I like white
noise while I sleep.

It really sucks the larger particles out of the air, but i cannot vouch
for how well it removes the smaller particles.

Whiel not highly allergic, my slight allergies do contribute to my
sinusitus, which is why I bought one. I keep meaning to buy the larger
model (the 250 of F-250) for the living room, but I can never find it on
sale anywhere (sigh).

Good luck with your search and be sutre to write down the toll-free 800
number from the side of the bionaire boxes (new modles only I believe) to
call the company direct for some info. They were quite helpful when I did
so, even helpign me choose the size of the models to clean the apartment
in total.
