As a Senior DeMolay... it is interesting to remember the many
homosexual encounters at Conclaves, Campouts, and various
Initiations. Don't get me wrong, my DeMolay years were great,
productive, and beneficial to my development as a responsible
citizen. However, a lot went on the Dads never knew about! <g>
This doesn't mean DeMolay sanctions this activity... Would love to
hear if this occurred in other areas, other than in Texas.

To Texas Wild Child,

This is really sad. At a time when all of the Masonic Youth groups are
suffering, you have the gall to post something like this. This
NewsGroup is being used by not only active DeMolays, but their parents,
prospective members and their parents, Advisors, Masons, fellow Senior
DeMolays and other Masonic family members.

You obviously haven't thought about the fallout that could result.
Ramifications of a letter like this, in addition to the loss of
membership, could greatly impact the "Conclaves, Campouts and various
Initiations" that you so fondly remember. At least the way that they
are currently run.

DeMolay is a fraternal organization that helps to bond young men and
provide them with a safe and comfortable environment where they can
build those friendships and grow as men. The loss of such a meaningful
and important organization would truly be a great loss. As a Senior
DeMolay, you must understand my point. I'm not saying that "encounters"
like those didn't happen, I'm sure that some did, but you would find
that in any organization, if you look for it. I am saying, as a fellow
Senior DeMolay, that it is your duty (YES DUTY) to protect DeMolays'
bulwarks and teachings, so that they will be around for future
generations of young men to discover and learn from (i.e.: Love of
Parents, Reverence for Sacred Things, Courtesy, Comradeship, Fidelity,
Cleanness and Patriotism, as well as the importance of the School,
Church and seat of Civil Government).

Signed,

A brother and friend

Thank you Kenneth. It is truly sad that someone would try and tarnish
the image of this great organization. I have been involved in DeMolay
for 4 years now and have never heard of homosexual or heterosexual
encounters at any campouts, conclaves or other DeMolay events. This is
not what DeMolay is about. I hope nobody has received the wrong
impression. Thank you for your explination of our great order.

I agree that this is not what demolay is about, but if you haven't heared
tales of such things happining I might say your not listening. It happens,in
my chapter their was once an admitted bi-sexual,we didn't know at the time
we balloted on him but such is life.he was ridiculde out of our chapter. This
happened at the hands of younger brothers woefully lacking in maturity. But
to deny that demolays do these things at events is foolish.they may be
stopped or detained, but if they want to do whatever they will. Some feel this
is okay, the allow these things to go on.Demolays and others(usually female
from my experiance, but not always)having sex is wrong at a demolay
event.I have seen that,at least in my jurisdiction I am a minority in that
opinon.and for those who will say this is a new problem,i recently went to a
chapter's 75th aniversary.I won't go further.

To those of you that have addressed the issue of homosexuality among DeMolay members:
Thank you!!
I was married for 22 years to a bright man, state master counselor of DeMolay many years ago, who I later discovered had a long term relationship with one of his DeMolay brothers. It’s a fact that DeMolay condoned it encourages this behavior. I saw it among members when I went to events. I never put it all together until many years later, which brought me to this search of “homosexuality and DeMoley”
I have wondered for decades what the connection was.

Fellow Citizens of our planet,
In order to grasp the depth at which this subject resides one must take a hard look back in history for the facts, and even then, it is left up to the individual to infer. First off you must understand that this order is named after the initial Grand Master of the Knight's Templar; Jacques de Molay. He led the Templar's until At dawn on Friday, 13 October 1307 (the date that would forever be linked to the origin of the infamous Friday the 13th and #13 superstition) King Philip IV ordered de Molay and scores of other Templar's to be simultaneously arrested. Both the King and the pope arrested as many as 600 templar's and then charged them with having committed acts in lurid details and whispers ranging from black magic, to Phallus worship, to homosexuality and a mass of other scandalous sexual rituals. Many if not all of those arrested were tried and tortured and met their end at the burning of a stake. (The key here is whether or not you believe the claims set forth by the King and the Pope - not much detail can be found on the subject).

Needless to say, if indeed the claims were true, then I would be hard pressed to send my child to an initiation order that is for younger boys that went by a name that had such charges associated with it. Keep in mind, the Knights Templar were also a Catholic order, and the Catholic priests actions of late do nothing more than to support such a notion.

Wished I had better news.

Love, Light and Power,
