Topics

Standing Hold Escape Counters and Ground Proofing
The first part of this session will teach escapes/counter to the
common situation of being held in locks, such as bear hugs and head
locks. Many of these applications are found in classical taiji forms
as well as in other martial arts. "Gound Proofing" refers to a very
practical problem faced by stand up fighters - you've trained to fight
standing up and you have been knocked down and possibly mounted. How
do you defend yourself and get back on your feet.

Combat Applications of Taijiquan
The material will go beyond push hands practice into the use of
classical Taijiquan in real fighting situations. Tim will cover entry
methods, how to use the concepts of "Sticking and Following" in a
realistic confrontation, and the use of soft, whole body power in
overcoming stronger opponents.

Conditioning for martial arts
Tim will teach a series of exercises that are well suited for the
martial artist and can provide whole body function fitness for
anyone. The exercises will incorporate principles of proper body
alignment and balance, strengthening , flexibility, flow, and
coordination. These exercises can fill an important gap in
conditioning for many internal martial artists that have strong
flexible legs and hips but spend little effort on coordinated
conditioning of the upper body."

Note on not taking falls at the seminar:
If you are uncomfortable taking falls, you can perform the material at
the seminar up to the point of "fitting in." That is a common practice
at seminars that include throwing and at least several people are
planning to attend and learn the material in that way.
