It's funny you mention that -
At my old jujutsu club, they practiced knife defenses
often. Of course there were standard defenses
against the basic thrust.
But they did no randori, just choreographed routines.
So occasionally, as a born troublemaker, I'd throw
a monkey wrench into the gears. Once in a while,
I'd defend a (rubber) knife attack with.... drum roll....
CRESCENT KICK! And .... drum roll.... it WORKED,
in most cases! I kicked the knife out of their hands
(aim for the hand, not the blade).
