(I apologize for reposting. My previous news provider was unreliable and
I'm not sure if this posted properly.)

I'm training at the Jaribu System of Martial Arts in New York. I know some
of the history of "Jaribu" and that it is supposed to be based on elements
derived from American Boxing, Caporei, Jujitsu, Go-Ju and Akijitsu.

However, a while ago I seem to remember seeing a "Jaribu" school of karate
in California. Has anyone heard of this style or is this name unique to
this particular school in NY?

Thanks,
Joel

Hello Joel,

I can say that what you saw most likely was my training in a California Dojo exposing them to Jaribu System training. I am the oldest trained living student of the system which evolved through the Austin school of Karate in Hollis NY During the years of my participation from 1964 until now where I am recognized as a Hanshi level Kyyudan in the Art. Make no mistake I am a technical Hanshi.
There are various upper levels that allow for Businesses to be maintained after splits that occur after a Head teacher dies and partners have difficulties in leadership. If you are training in Queensvillage
that is the school that I built with My teacher Ronald Victor Austin. I stopped teaching at that Dojo
09/05/95 where I was second in command and business partner since we opened in November 1979.
I have no knowledge of what is taught at that location. All I know is that when I left many of those men I have taught at one time or another. In 1985 I was ranked by R.Austin My only teacher as 6th Dan and was such till his passing march 2 1998. . I am recognized by Chinese Goju Practioner and Head Shidoshi Ronald Van Clief Student of Goju GM Peter Urban. The evolution of the Jaribu System is moving forward evolving under my watch. You may contact me should you have further interest. As for the Queensvillage location I have no connection and broke off all contact abruptly the week after my teachers passing.
