Greetings-
I've been watching the Aikido world from afar, for years now. Suddenly I'm
feeling ready to join a dojo.
Can anyone recommend a dojo in the area of Ventura, calif, usa.
I'm definitely tending toward the spiritual aspects of Aikido, if that has
any play on my choices.
Thanks,
w

Warr,
I'm originally from Santa Barbara and I know there happens to be a great
dojo there. A bit of a commute for you from Ventura though but I'll bet you
have more than one to choose from right there in town.

Hi,

There are two really good dojos in Ventura. I belong to The Moving
Centre:
http://www.themovingcentre.com/index2.html

This dojo is affiliated with the USAF Western Region under Chiba
Shihan (an uchi-deshi of O'Sensei). Our dojo has a dedicated
following of both lower and higher rank students. Generally a great
bunch of people. Our Cheif instructor is Dennis Belt Sensei (5th
Dan). He is very technical and an exceptional instructor. We are
testing this Saturday. You should come by to see it. You can get
directions from the website.

The other dojo in town is The Mokoto Dojo:
http://www.makotodojo.com/

Mokoto is run by Renosa sensei. He is (or was) affiliated with Steven
Segal. I have some friends that train there and they seem to like it.
I have never trained there so I can't say much.

Both are reputed as good dojos and I can vouch for the Moving Centre.
Check them both out. See which one is best for you.
