Hi Gang;
Does anybody know if there is anybody in the Peterborough, Ontario area that
teaches aikido? The nearest instruction seems to be in Oshawa - just a
little too far to drive a couple times a week.
Thanks for any information,
-Jim

Sorry. We are in the original Peterborough however I do remember
coming across a website for an aikido club in Peterborough Ontario
some time ago. Damned if I can find it now though.

Good luck.

I am in Oshawa, and don't personnally know of anything really closer. I did
a Google search, (aikido+peterborough+ontario), and got a few hits - mostly
for karate. There is apparently a Daito-ryu jujutsu affiliate in the area,
but the web site didn't look appealing from an aikido viewpoint. I am not
sure if ther are (or were) some classes being taught at a community center
or fitness facility.

There are some others in this part of the province - CFB Trenton has a
Yoshinkan dojo, as does Pickering; Oshawa's Durham Region Aikido just
closed - Sensei Mick Chambers is moving to BC. I think there might be
another style in Ajax. There are other styles in Uxbridge (no closer than
Pickering, really), and I thought I saw something in Courtice. There is at
least one other aikido instructor in Oshawa, but I don't know his style.

Sorry I could not help more. You could try to get in to the Toronto area
every couple of weeks (weekends, maybe), and train with one of the 6th to
8th dan instuctors there. Better than nothing, and the training, whatever
style, will be excellent.
