Incredible turnout in the stands.
Best of luck to Marcus at PASIC!

Anyone going to the Plano East Marching Contest on Oct 10? We will try to
defend our title and go for a three-peat this year

Marcus may have won by 2.07 points, but remember how long have they been
practicing their show? I believe it's been about 7 MONTHS!!!

And how long has L.D. Bell been practicing their show? About 3 weeks.

So...7 months as opposed to 3 weeks. yeah, you do the math.

>Go Bell drumline!! What was your music and is it the same as your marching
>show? Congrats on a fine finish behind an always impressive Marcus drumline.

Vaughn,

The music was about 50% from the marching band show and 50% composed
specifically for the drumline show. I think everyone at Bell was pleased with
the final product. The Bell drumline will, however, have only one (or at most
two) more opportunities to present the drumline show... So it's back 100% to
the band music and drill now. At least through the UIL process.

I expect Marcus (and Plano too I believe) to represent our neck of the woods
WELL at PASIC. Their shows were awesome, as usual.

Dracon,

It sounds like you are trying to diminish the accomplishments of Marcus (5-time
natl champs). I truly hope this is not your intent. There is room enough for
all of us in this activity to be successful.

I don't normally respond to these types of posts, but I will in this
case. I am a Marcus
Drumline parent. I go to watch almost everyone of Marcus's weekly
practice (remember the band take
up most of the eight hours allowed) and the drumline show has been
learned since
school began. Some of the parts were added just two weeks before the
show. Actually a part of the
show was cut for Plano since the drumline just got the part the week
before and they did not know it good enough yet.

After PASIC in November, Marcus percussionists' puts their drums away
and they work on concert bands
and ensemble.

The Marcus drumline family loves all the drumlines that we see. You
can't imagine
how much fun it is to host a drumline competition (Lone Star Classic)
and get
the opportunity to see all the area drumlines. Enjoy yourself when you
have the opportunity
to see another drumline, whether it is during a half-time band show or a
drumline show. Each drumline
has an unique style that is fun to watch and hear.

You did not say which school you are from, but from what you did say I
can make an educated
guess. I enjoyed your show at Plano and if you learned it entirely in
three weeks you should
be congratulated.

Please forgive me for my pride, I sometimes forget
myself. I become too proud. Forgive
me for my foolish acts. I shalln't post much more
controversial material making harsh opinions of other
bands. I should remember that band can be competitive,
but should not transcend the point of mere recreational competitiveness, if
you understand what I am saying.

Forgive me,

Thank you,

(One foolish act brings so much remorse and sorrow.)

Disclaimer,

Due to the replies to my statement, I need to confirm that everyone out
there knows that I have no official affliation with the L.D. Bell Drumline.

I am only a fan. Please do not misjudge the L.D. Bell Drumline due to my
personal opinion.

I apologize to the Marcus and L.D. Bell Drumline if I have caused any anger
among its members and their supporters.

Thank you.

Dracon,

I appreciate the clarification. Thanks also for the private letter. I hope
you continue to attend and enjoy drumline shows. The North Texas area is (in
my opinion) the best part of the nation for the activity.
