Ranma 1/2 remains in a trough, though it's still very funny. The
story where Ranma was fighting his father is over -- the latest is a
two-episode story where (I think) Ryouga is nearly revealed to be
P-chan. (again!)

In 3x3 Eyes, Ayanokoji Pai goes on a date with Yakumo. She seems to
be reverting to Houasyou for some reason, and Yakumo pulls out the
old Kuan-Yaa and "Running Scale" to deal with other strange happenings,
but the details elude me. (It's in the mail, Patrick. I put in
a clipping from the snow-sculpture competition, apparently some
people built a big Pai and Yakumo out of ice!)

I agree with Dave Mou: Yuzo Takada should have left A. Pai alone. Perhaps
this story will offer a bit more explanation for her existence, but
maybe not. Surely Benares has better things to do? Like cut Yakumo
up into pieces, put the pieces in steel vaults, and cast them into
the ocean. :-)

In Kujaku-Oh, everyone is finally prevailing against the vampires,
but Tezcatlipoca has been awakened, and has taken over the moon!
(NB. Who was the bloke who wrote the K-Oh segment for the Usenet
Manga Titles list? Get in touch with me ASAP, plz. :-)

Didn't you wrote the Kujaku-oh segment for the Usenet Manga titles
list in the first place? However, I remember adding few lines for
Kujaku-Oh myself.

And it will happen again and again and again and.....
And yet the truth will never be revealed until perhaps the very end.
That's the way of Takahashi, ne?

>In 3x3 Eyes, Ayanokoji Pai goes on a date with Yakumo. She seems to

Who is Ayanokoji Pai??? The second "Pai" "created" by Sanjiyan (defying
logics) ?? Hmm.. I guess according to the kanji, the name can be divided
as Ayano-ko-ji?

Is the Natsuko story there too? :)

Hmm.. recycling characters can be good, or can be bad. It depends. Say,
if those previous characters in Ranma just come back and doing some smiliar
tricks, there won't be more fun. But if those characters come and deal with
each other, it can have lots of fun.

Personally although I have difficulty believing the creation of
A.Pai, I think the very existence of such character has a big potential
for further development. But then I have to read it myself to judge.

Everyone seems to have a sadistic attitude towards Yakumo....

Did you use a mythology dictionary to check up the name of the Aztec god?

Just to be totally nit-picky, Tezcatlipoca was a god of the Toltecs of Tula.
(From whom the Aztecs tried very hard to establish a lineage.) The most
notable occurence of Tezcatlipoca in the Toltec saga deals with the divison
of the Nonoalco and the Tolteca Chichimeca (the former following Topitlzin-
Quetzalcoatl, which people may know by the Mayan Kukulkan).

Needless to say, Tezcatlipoca was a rather bloody god demanding a good bit
of blood sacrifice.

Quetzalcoatl wanted less (not none.. just less), and eventually he (Well,
Topitlzin) and the Nonoalco got thrown out of Tula (and apparently migrated
down to the late period Maya in the Yucatan peninsula.. you can see their
work in Chichen-Itza.)

There's actually a lot more here.. I guess the main point is that
Tezcatlipoca was more a Chichimec (a word almost synonymous with "barbarian")
god in the Mesoamerican tradition and by no means strictly Aztec.

A much more centrally Aztec god would be, oh, Huitzilopochtli.

(Yours for a fun Mesoamerica.. B-) )

Thanks for the info. Just hope that it won't be too expensive.

Hark! You bet... I have problems remembering names! :p :) That's why
I misspelt your name (and I misspelt names of my favorite songs)!
But I can always rely on YOU to correct me Ha ha ha!!

The story looks cooler now but its thick-drawing artstyle doesn't suit
me right. I think people who like monster fighting would like it, but
I don't :p (Kujaku Oh has research value though :)

It's USHIO AND TORA! Patrick, please pay more attention to spelling,
especially for the title of a manga or a song. Ushio transforms

into a superhuman (with long hair) whenever he wields the Spear of
Beast. Continued use of the spear will drain Ushio's soul
completely, turning him into a mindless in the end.

Ushio and Tora is one of the hottest manga in Japan right now and I
storngly recommend it to ANY manga fan. If there are enough requests,
I'm willing to translate entire Ushio and Tora.

Where do you get all this info? Curious mind wants to know :)

And how that story of KUJAKU OH develops? Extremely brief scanning tells me
a big devil rising from the galleon, galleon got bombarded by ships around,
Kujaku and co. boarding the ship, reincarnation experience of St.Joan the
Arc (?), and lately 3 of the 4 good guys fell (kujaku got knocked down,
a girl has her throat forced by the tongue of the vampire girl, and St.Joan
of Arc got swallowed by the demon)
I think I need more info to know what's going on.

[An experience of reading a Thai manga magazine gave me the very first
experience of reading a manga *without* knowing what all the dialog and
sounds are all about. Now I think I understand how hard and frustrating
you people have facing the manga. Given that I know the background of
the stories, it's still a frustrating experience trying to tell the stories
just by the pictures.
BTW those Thai manga mag is amazingly quick in putting up stories from
Japan and they include a good mix of series like Nijiiro Tohgarashi,
Ranma1/2, Kujaku Oh, Gunnm, Dragonball, Tora to Shio(?) and one Hiruta
Tatsuya's ???. Paper is of low quality, but they take good care of replacing
the sound effect with Thai [not the brushing out used in the past Taiwanese
translation]
]

Since I've mentioned Tora to Shio, I think I'd put this question up too:

I saw the guy who's holding the Ghost Spear now has very long hair. Is he
the same guy with a stupid face right at the beginning? Seems to me he's
quite adept at fighting now, and the art looks smoother too.

They are both under 20 dollars. They both have entries on three
Goddesses. :)

Makasete kudasai.

Since the art style is unique, some people might not like it
at first glance. But the story is really cool and there are lots of
character developments. BTW, isn't 3X3 Eyes also a monster fighting
manga? There is VERY little difference between Ushio and Tora except
for the art style.

Being a religion/mythology otaku, I always loved such manga.
Kujaku-Oh is one of my old favorites and I had real fun searching
through the references. It'll be interesting to make a gods/demons/
magic reference for Kujaku-Oh, although it'll be tens of pages, if
not hundreds.
