Symbols are switching?

Help.

When I try and transform a graphic into a graphic symbol it changes to the
last symbol I had. If I continue anyway when I drag and drop the name of the
symbol I want It gives me the other symbol not the one I want. I can't
convert any symbols. Why?

I will try to explain it better. I have a symbol lets call it symbol A. I
import another to the library a graphic saved as a png. I then drag it to
the stage. I then left click and convert to symbol. Call it symbol B. I
click OK and it changes to symbol A. I am confused so I delete it. I drag
the symbol B to the stage and I get symbol A. What is going on? I can't
update the graphic to a symbol and I think it is doing this for all my
symbols. Help. Thanks for any suggestions.
