This is a critique of the web site posted at www.flashexpert.de

I went there from this newsgroup, thinking that it would be useful to check
it out as I'm just getting into Flash ( AND LOVING IT). WRONG! I couldn't
figure out what the site's function was. And the animated cubes that
followed my mouse around were very annoying. I just couldn't see the purpose
behind this site. It's incredible what he was able to do, but it is very
slow. Can someone explain it to me?

Erik,
That site is a classic example of the difference between a web designer and
a web wannabe. Do yourself a favor and try to forget ever going there. (My
retinas may never be the same!) It seems a lot of people learn a little
about making a web site and call themselves "web designers" when they don't
know the first thing about design. In my experience (limited though it may
be) a large (if not equal) portion of time should be spent on overall
design/layout/color scheme of a site, not just on building it. Too many
wannabe designers slap together a web site containing every "trick" they
know and then wonder why they don't get hired. And God help us if they do!
Sometimes it's what you don't put on your site, that's more important than
what you do. I've seen over 100 "designers" flash sites in the last year
and there's only 4-5 that I would ever consider hiring.

If your looking for useful information the FAQ page for this ng is a good
place to start.

Oh my God! What on Earth *was* that!? Unless (I'm prepared to reserve
judgement) this site was made to be deliberately kitsch, then I would have
to agree with Michael - don't ever go back! Maybe even make an appointment
with a psychiatrist to see if they can de-program this experience from your
memory.
*shudder*

Well the "introd" wasn;t very impressive for an expert and ... well does
that site serve any purpose - I didn't stay around long enough to find
out.

Ha ha, that was *awful!!!* but so funny!! It's like the sewer of flash or
something...such a compilation of public domain effects and images...it's
everything *not* to do with what you find at flashkit.com, hehe.

Not only was it a compilation of public domain images and effects, he
also stole the top blue bar from the site of a very well known web devel
company, though he managed to ugly it up quite a bit.

Considering I work for them, legal will be notified monday. I don't know
if it's even worth pursuing though. They're not exactly competition.

Hmm.. My guess would be that they launch a script:

comment ("---===copyright 2000 by www.flashkit.com===---")

but I could be wrong ofcourse :)
