Long filename problems for cast and dir files on Windows XP?

Hi there,

I used to run Director 7.0 on a windows 2000 machine and have never had a
problem like this.

I have upgraded to Windows XP Pro and installed Director 7.0. Now when I
import cast members with long filenames Director is bringing them in as
partcastname~1 etc ... This also happens if I use any long filenames for the
actual director movie as well.

I am sure this has something to do with Windows XP - but cannot find any
technotes on this on Macromedia.com ?

Please can someone shed some light on this for me.

I had this exact same issue with Director 8.5 and XP. I think its an XP
thing.

Having recently been forced to use MX2004 I noticed the problem has been
fixed in this version of Director.
