Damn....

I want to find a folder, on some drive on my system, that has the word "format" in its name. THIS SHOULD BE THE EASIEST THING IN THE ENTIRE DAMNED UNIVERSE.

In the Finder, I hit Command-F. I'm searching "This Mac". I change "Kind" to folder. I type "format" in the search box.

Where's the choice to search names that Contain that word, rather than Match? Where's the choice for "not case sensitive"? The Folder is not hidden, nor invisible.

Again, easiest thing in the damned universe. Please forgive the caps, but I remember this being easier with System 9. Or 7. Or my first system, 3.2 on a Mac Plus.

I feel like Dreyfuss in "Close Encounters", screaming at the sky "Whaaaaaat?!?!"

Thanks for any help....

Go to the Apple App Store and search for, and then install, 'EasyFind'.

It's a fantastic little programme which I love!

Let me know how you get on!

Good luck. :-)

Will try that out Devon, and thanks. And, I apologize for my POed tone on the original post, this has been bugging me for some time. I figured it was just something I needed to explore more, but no, Apple has essentially crippled the Finder. A shame...

Hey, Thanks again to David (not "Devon". Devon's a town. I knew that...)...

Anyway. thanks David, Easyfind is GFS...Good Free Stuff.

At the risk of starting a completely new discussion, I'll say this: Easyfind is really helping me locate files related to the dreaded Chill-Tab scourge, which has been making my life miserable for some weeks now. I've found a bunch of stuff that had previously slipped by me, and permanently deleted the little buggers. We'll see if that finally did it, but I got high hopes....

Actually it's NOT a town - it's what we in the UK call a COUNTY! ;-)

It is - REALLY good. I'm pleased that you found it.

That's good! :-)

If you are have problems with an Apple computer, have you tried starting
it in Safe Boot mode? That can help sort out all kinds of problem.

You can find more detail here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

I've added *my* Usenet group - someone there thinks I never help anyone. ;-)

Good luck, Rob.

You don't have a Usenet group. You've been told that before but it
hasn't sunk in, apparently.

I find it hard to believe that an adult can be so naive. <shakes head in
disbelief> You are *SO* gullible, Miss Jackson, and seem totally
unaware that you've been 'taken for a ride'! You are even worse than
Dustin in failing to appreciate the British style of humour and the fun
to be gained by winding you up!

Helping people is what my life is all about.

It brings me great joy. :-)

I can think of a few other things that your life is all about. Drinking,
stalking, floating around on the sewage canals, etc. Helping people is
absent from the list.

>It brings me great joy. :-)

Joy seems to be reserved for drinking and floating on the sewage canals,
but only when you aren't actively stalking.

I've asked you before for any MSG_IDs of posts where you
actually helped someone (and didn't post a fsck off, AKA "Google it").
"Helping" one of your many nyms to STALK doesn't count.
15 years of posting, and nothing !!!!

You must be very unhappy (assuming what you said is not
another lie).

Just a data point: Dave helped me out, with some good, useful info. I'm not a regular here, and I'm not aware of the history that inevitably rears up on these open forums. Hell, I used to hang out on rec.music.makers.guitar, and any guitar players lurking may remember what a pit that was, and don't even get me started on alt.guitar.amps.

But Dave helped me out, with some solid, useful info. Thanks again, Dave.

PS: It's a county, not a town....
