About 80%+ of newsgroups are empty or only ever get spam messages, and
that's even discounting the garbage newsgroups created by idiots. :-(

Opps! I did add that the various comp.sys.mac.* newsgroups were the more
active Mac related ones (although some of those are empty too) - somehow
that got deleted before I clicked the Post button.

I don't have that one in my reading list, so I don't know how busy it is.
The busiest tends to be comp.sys.mac.system
