Bought a ton of blanks at an auction of a door manufacturer. Along with
the blanks got several hundred pounds of cut keys...builders keys,
cylinder keys, etc.

questions:

1. is there any value in the nickel silver keys?
2. How hard is it to get rid of nickel plated brass?
3. any ideas on the value of yellow brass today?

TIA

The nickel plate is no problem, and the nickel silver keys are actually
worth more than the yellow brass.

The best yield will be if you take the time to remove all of the steel rings
and separate the nickel silver from the yellow brass, and strip any rubber
head from the keys.

If you are not part of the solution, you are not dissolved in the solvent.

You could try and sell them to a bump key manufacturer.

Reply:
yep, my bad.
lot of difference in a "ton of blanks"
and "several hundred pounds of cut keys"

still believe the best bet would be to scrap all...

Yes Fucknut I mean Key,

Unless I misunderstand, a bump key is made out of all of the deepest cuts
and ANY key can be cut down to make one.

Are you fucking retarded, or just a brain damaged locksmith?

Ingenious once again jerk off I mean key,

If the keys are scrapped they can't possibly end up in the hands of your
competition, possibly a more qualified technician and businessperson.

funny about that... where to unload 'nickel-silver' keys.. i was getting $1.00 per pound for them, and up to $3.00 per pound for brass keys... this nickel silver that some blanks are purportedly made of is also known as "german silver"...

Years ago, a nursery school teacher asked me if I had any scrap keys.
She wanted them for arts and crafts projects. I showed her my bucket
full of scrap keys, about 50 pounds worth at the time, and she offered
me $1 for a pound of scrap keys. I sold almost all of my scrap keys
to nursery and pre schools until I retired. As for what the metal is
worth, not a clue, but I'm sure a recycling place can tell you.
