Let me start by saying that I am not a locksmith. That will be readily
evident:
I need to change the "handing" on a Trilogy DL2700. For good reason the
installation instructions are guarded by AlarmLock - I understand that. The
lock was originally professionally installed and I purchased it after it was
removed from a failed company. I intend on installing it at my house but
must first change the handing. I'm a bit of a do-it-yourselfer so seeking
professional help is always the last resort for me. Usually reading the
manual would be the last resort but since I don't have it... The core is
keyed and I have the key. I'm sure that this is a really simple thing to do
but it's not jumping out at me.
Any advice would be appreciated. Please reply to me privately if you wish.
Keep in mind that I am not some locksmith-wannabe or hack with a pick set.
Just a guy with a lock and a problem.
Thanks in advance.

for obvious reasons, defeating instructions are not usually given
by the

----snip----
One of us missed something. He asked about about changing the _handing_,
not defeating the lock, and he says he's got the key so he can operate
it mechanically... Is there someting weird about the Trilogy that I'm
not aware of (feel free to just say "yes" if so), or did you misread?

turn the lever over the way you require- including the lock cylinder then
re-install, you may need to install the cylinder first then lever & while
turning key & pressing in on clip- push lever on the rest of the way until clip
latches the lever in place.
These are a great lock - i have installed 6 on my home- and over 20 at our
office-
The model number 2700WP is a weather proof model- the model number as well as a
serial number is on the rear side of the keypad- you should be able to see it
with no problem- if its just 2700 it is not a weather proof model-
If needed a hinged cover is available from a company called: STI out of

Alot can be done with these locks such as remote unlock by connecting 2 wires-
also a shunt can be done using -3- wires (n.o & n.c) to bypass an alarm or
annunciate that someone has entered a correct code.
Also external power can be supplied- requiring no batteries in lock itself.
Some may have a hard time getting wires into the door to the lock- but it can
be done.
If you need the programming instructions- e-mail me and i can FAX them to you.
When all power is lost they go back to a factory code ( i cant give it out
here!!! ) and the programmers code reverts back to the factory code- these can
and should be changed.
Also it can be set for passage- that way no code is required until a "re-lock"
code is entered.
People need to read these better than jump the gun and refer to some "rules" of
the newsgroup- this is not the 1st. time that people have exploded- for no
reason.
