I recall trying pipe tobacco while reading Holmes & Watson, and for
some very mysterious reason,
the pipe I borrowed from my father's pipe rack sorta looked like the U
pipe under a sink

Detective fiction isn't considered "good literature," while it's what
most people buy, is it not?

If out of 500 people randomly polled, 490 say they enjoy consuming
detective fiction, while only 10 say THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA is more
interesting than popular schlock, then no wonder Hemingway blew his
brains out--with a damne shotgun, as I vaguely recall (w/o looking it
up)
