Notes on Literature: *In the Half Light*

As per an 'admirer'.
A "philosopheme" fine and fair - *In the Half Light* is written all in
direct discourse - with the *subtext* - as per Australia's love affair
with analytic philosophy - "I don't want to 'quine' anything". The
"supertext" is a *normal* coming-of-age story for an Anglo male of
ordinary 'means': he comes, and he goes, and someone dies, and *il y
ya* Ireland. "Your eyes turn different colors when you come": the sort
of thing 'girls' say. Accidents: will happen - yes yes.
And then there is the "idiocy of rural life"
Even in Sydney
I suppose.

ADDENDUM: It may be possible that the main character is actually a
Black Australian of non-convict derivation, and the "thematic" of the
novel is "I Plan to Stay a Believer" by Curtis Mayfield. Dialetheism,
you know.
