China has been quite a lot worried about backdoors in Microsoft Windows
and have tried to favour Linux over Microsoft Windows as seen in the
"peoples computer" which was a inexpensive computer with a backup on
rom, so if something would go wrong, you could just reboot in special
boot mode and it wiped out the old installation and replaced with the
one from rom, the /home was not on the system disk, so personal data was
not affected of the restoring the OS.
