One day I intend to have enough saved to make it to a US con, all the way
from the UK.
So, which cons are more lifestyler-friendly than others? How's the memphis
one? I know someone nearby who I'd like to say hi to IRL..

Best wishes,

FurtherConfusion (January, in San Francisco) is a good choice
if you can only make one. It's the biggest of the cons, and the one
that just about everybody attends. It's well-run, and they make
everyone feel welcome. There always seem to be a lot of Brits
there too for some reason. I've been the token colonial in the
group on more than a few occassions.

Although I'm certainly biased, I hope you'd consider FurFest as well.
We're spinning off the long-established Duckon furry track into a full
con this year (November, in Chicago). I'm running a track called
'Fuzzy Constructions' which will cover fursuits, plush and puppetry.
I'm planning several paws-on workshops, including one where the
you make yourself a tail. There's also a full track being run on
Furry Spirituality, and another one on Technophilia. Look at
http://www.furfest.org for details. Like I said, I'm prejudiced, but
it looks like it'll be a very cool, friendly sort of con.

This otter will have to save up big time to even get over from the UK.....
My poor airmiles card only has 40 on it since there's no places to get
them.... *sits down and curls his tail around him.* Though one day I will.
Never been across the pond at all. *smiles* Though I do know that there is
one living very nearby to me, which is a pleasant surprise....

Whatever con I go to, it won't be this year. I have no-way enough time to
build up enough funds, being jobless ATM.
Spirituality and Technophilia. Good, very good. =)

*shudders* Freeserve... erk. Nothing against you but I've been having
major probs with that ISP with hackers....... Name send a shiver down my
spine to my tail end.

I have a airmiles card yes. Not that it does me anything. No safeway for
miles, can't drive so can't use it for the petrol thing. Never get any
points at this rate.... :(

I am in North West England, in the county of cheshire.... That's as all I
give really.....

Tim,

The only people who claim that CF has a Burned Fur reputation, or that it is
lifestyler-unfriendly, are the same people who are violantly defaming Burned Fur
as something that it is not and has never been. Things like being "Anti-gay" or
"Against adult art" are some of the lies commonly believed about the BF's that
intice people to perpetuate the myth.

In fact, The Burned Furs roster contains hetero-, bi-, *and* homosexual members,
(and more of the latter two groups than the first). NONE of Burned Fur's
members have anything against adult artwork other than "Bad" adult artwork being
shoved in their faces and still selling even though it sucks. Many of BF's
members make a living selling artowrk that includes adult material.

To my knowledge no one on my staff is a Burned Fur, so regardless of your
opinion of them, please stop perpetuating the myth that CF is somehow being run
or organized by BF. I myself droped any association with them several months
ago.

Continuing to perpetuate the myth that BF is involved in any way with ConfUrence
only serves to defame the convention.

Repy to me personally, as I do not read this newsgroup often.

I have pressed him on this issue before, and he has been consistent: CF11
is NOT being run by the Burned Fur, at least publicly. He seems pretty
honest, and is either hiding his association really well (doubtful) or
sincere.

I think that he is sincere.

Yeah, I've heard about that. Free ISP = disposable ID.
If it's any help, it's the addy I use for all my stuff. It's all over my
webpage ( www.were.net/~scifox/ ).
I asked where in the UK you were, because I was wondering if you were on the
LondonFurs mailing list? There's also the UKFur list, but it has virtually
no traffic.

Actually. I have found some other furs not far down the road from me. *does
a happy leap* I am on the UK list. In London on the 14th of this month in
a pass through onto my way to Cambridge... Gotta be at Euston by 8-9am....
