Since I'm going to miss AC this year, MFM is my next surest bet. But
I won't know if I'm attending until a couple of days. I just got
myself signed up for ToriCon in St. Louis, and I need to see how
much that's going to cost. If I do attend, I will also be seeking
roommates.

I think the group could use some cluttering. Is it just my newsfeed,
or has Homestead been quiet of late?

Eh, one net.nuisance down... now if Saunders and a troll on one other
newsgroup I read would drop off the face of the earth, WebTV lost it's
usenet presence and AOL made it's users learn about Usenet before
using it, we might all be able to turn our calendars to October 1993
already. People who were on Usenet before that will know what I mean.

Goat, I don't. I'd rather a bit quieter and devoid of him than the
alternative. Nasty piece of work, he was.

I talked to him offline twards the end, he had some issues, and he was
finally over them. It seems fur was taking the place of a differnt
chise he needed to realise in his lifestyle. So he made it. Also
apparently it gave him the strength that he nolonger felt the need to
troll. An amazing change in those last few days.
He would probably be a rather model poster, if this group had anything
to offer hmi now.

Despite what some thought I always thought he was someone who
did contribute. His phrasing may not have been the most polite, etc
but he could always be counted on to "call a spade a spade" and to
call things as he saw them. He was disruptive, especially when he
questioned WHY something was and that sort of disruption can be
annoying but is sometimes desperately needed. any group needs a
"devil's advocate" just to keep the philosophy honest and examined,
Though sometimes he drove mad, i will miss him. If you are still in
contact with him, send him my regards and express my happiness that he
has found his path. would that we could all succeed in that.

You didn't offer that to bardcat/powercat.
You insulted him like any other troll would.
Shame on your hypocrisy I say.

You don't want to know what he said about you dave.
It seems that your the sorce of some of his worst and most misguided
opinions about some of the people here... notice how you look a lot
less stable now, that your doing this act as a solo, without him to back
you up?

I wouldn't call him less abrasive. But I like that facet in some
people, he wears it well. Reminds me of what happens if you try to top
post to rec.games... well, no need to spam for them, i mentioned it
recently enough... you get the message well shoverd down your throat,
and you don't do it again. Some are apt to call baloo trollish for
that.. but, i wouldn't, nor would i say snuh is one now. Abrasive,
yha.. evil, nha.
I don't, however, even concider my own postin habbits to be civilized.

you misentpret me sabot.
I supose he woln't mind my outing him, he posted it himself before he
left.
It has been said that fur causes peoples orentation to drift.
Well, for him it became a way to get past his upbrining and sterotypes,
and start to eal with himself. Now that he knows his orentation, he
dosen't need fur, or were anymore. He has set it asside, like an
old toy.
it isn't that the group isn't going to be civil to him, it simple he has
no reason to be here.
I quite liked him at first, thought he brought a bit of devil's advocacy
into the group, but that was before I actually engaged him in debate. He
liked to be very loud and very opinionated, and as long as people thought
him clever for that it was fine. But when actually pressured in debate he
went to pieces so fast you had to dodge the shrapnel, and quickly descended
to a level of hurling pejorative epithets around rather than actually
addressing the argument.
Reasoned debate is a Good Thing, but simply going off on one and hurling
insults at anyone who disagrees with you does not constitute reasoned
debate. In my experiences with the man his behaviour was appalling; in
email his demeanour was shockingly bad; messages I received from him
consisted of semi-coherent ranting larded heavily with insults predicated
upon what he assumed my sexuality and lifestyle to be (and coming from a gay
man who would have doubtless screamed blue bigotry murder had I done
anything of the kind to him, deeply hypocritical).. He seemed utterly
incapable of "agreeing to disagree"; he had to be Right or else you were
Stupid. It was at this point I killfiled him.
Even so (this was back in January) I noticed through others' quoted replies
that if I so much as said *anything* in the group, even on completely
unrelated matters, he would jump in and attempt to pour out more of his
vitriol, for *months* afterward.
From some teenager such behaviour might be expected, but from somebody who
is, as I understand it, in his forties, it was simply bizarre. He clearly
has Issues, and I hope wherever he has gone he is doing something to address
those issues. I for one am quite content to see the back of him. This
space may be quieter, but it is better for it.
>So you're saying my POV are not legitimate eh?
Read what I wrote. did even mention your name? No? well it
seems you see a mirror where none is. Perhaps that mirror in your mind
suggests how you see yourself.

Then why would you raise that point then unless you'd want me to know
or ponder upon it?
However it was/is highly likely that he was paranoid and possilby
schizophrenic as well as haveing other issues.
we can only hope what help he seeks or what he does will help him deal
with that.

I guess that explains why that saying didn't make much sense.

there is a very apt phrase.
"I will never be better, but I am getting better" used ni some recovery
groups.
That could apply here. Intersting that you spotted his orentation. He
had been hiding it from himself for a very long time, denial is a very
tough thing... And anyway, not to sound like I am defending him. But..
hrm.. shrew? is that the word i saw used to describe him? Yha.. Anyway,
he asked me if i could make certain appologies, and i think your more
then entitiled to one. Though I can't make it myself. I think he just
needed something else to look at, and hate, other then himself. I'm
glad you could handle being one of those things.
He sent me several, one of which I belive I still have archived, mad
ranting e-mails where he accuses me and lots of other people of being
part of a conspiracy to "mindfuck" him, indeed accuses me of being
someone else (which I am not, I am only me)
Also he clamied that "david fox" was some kind of plant by
conservatives who wanted to "convert" people to being consevative or
an agent provectuer or similar.
He also clamied that he was being watched by the FBI or something and
that they had taken photos of him, because of his pro-enviroment
postings and he also seemed to be under the impression that the
pentagon used Echelon to read or tryed to read everything he did.
While I will admit, all That *might* be possible. It is, highly
unlikely in my opinion. Thus without evidence to prove any of that.
You will forgive me, If I state that there was a signiifenct paranoiac
element working there.
we can only hope that he gets better or takes some steps in the right
direction etc.

to care about rather than fret about one disruptive element.
