I kinda get that impression too, though some furries have dreams about being
animals too.

I had a dream about it before. :)

I don't think there's any danger of that. Furry is made by furries. There's
no way anyone could buy it and own it.

I dont think I have ever dreamt about being an animal. The closet
thing would be dreaming about the actual characteristics of an animal.
Like stalking and killing prey.

Sounds like you haven't found or accepted your animal side so you see yourself
physically human but behaviorally animal. When you again have such a dream try
thinking who and what you are.

Does wonders for me.

So I should try and lucid dream? Or dream and think about what it
means after? I rarely have these dreams, after I wake up my mind is a
blank about what I dreamed about. Sometimes they come back during the
day after something would trigger them like a word or pharse.

Also how should I think about it. Dreams are such a mystery to me, and
sometimes I haven't a clue on how to interpret them.

(I'd just like to thank Dan Skunk and Skytech for being the first to
approach me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If there are any '
lurkies' still out there chuck a reply on this thread, everyone here
is very nice and supportive.

Best way to put it is make yourself accepting of the fact. Be aware. For most
people a dream is but a dream. You can't *force* yourself to remember but be
regularly aware it's possible. That way you keep an open mind when you sleep.

I certainly don't remember all my dreams especially the really wacko chaos ones.
There are some that are more... lucid and 'sensible', the ones that flows like a
movie. Those catch my attention and, from experience, I realize I am dreaming.
Now I can vivdly remember it and even tweak it. Because of this I never suffer
full blown nightmares. I fight monsters, walk through fire, breath under water
or in the void of space (hey, I once did a swan dive from a space shuttle all
the way to the ground!!), and either fly or land on my feet when I fall from
great heights.

I think the reason I have so many furry dreams is the concept is on my mind a
lot plus I have a strong imagination that often traslates to words and pictures.
Be creative and aware.

What is the point of dreaming if your living it out the way you want
it. Sorry to come off like that. Nightmares are a natural process of
life and if I would to erase them I feel as though I would never
trully understand how I feel about certain things. My phenotype for
instance. Maybe it is prey for others, or I could be the one killing
the prey.

(N.B That would've been cool to dive towards Earth!)

That's almost saying you have no right to try getting out of the way of a
speeding car, the outcome is inevitable. No, there's no reason I can't or
shouldn't have some control over my dreams. Actually it shows good mental and
character strength both asleep and awake. Too many people give in to fear and
stress.

On the other paw, I get to enjoy a richer dream experience. I have many dreams
tht are very rich in detail and sensation. When I was a real fox moving in a
field I could feel the sun, hear the grass and smell field odors I recognize.
When I was a werewolf escaping an underwater habitat, the water was realistic as
I remember from real diving experiences including feeling the water around me as
I swam and seeing the terrain and plantlife. There have been several dreams
involved in trotting and running on all four both as an anthro and as a full cat
(plus the above fox dream).

Oh and then there's the Nightbeast dream. I'll explain NB sometime but let's say
he's a predatory beastal humanoid. He (I) was hunting 'bad men' and was moving
in the dark on all fours through underbrush and low walls. I felt my way along
hearing my targets and watching them until I struck actually feeling my mouth
grabbing two of the mens' throats and biting down until they stopped struggling.
I felt anger and determination to hunt. I could sense it was a dream but I also
felt some control as if I was actually doing this! Tell me that was wrong and
there was no chance to learn and understand from such an event?

> (N.B That would've been cool to dive towards Earth!)

I walked out of the airlock and moved slow. I stood in the center of the open
cargo bay and looked down (up?) at the Earth then pushed off in a kind of swan
dive. I fell toward the Earth. Oh, I was not wearing a suit! I fell faster then
hit the atmosphere. I could feel that knot in my stomach from the thrill because
I could see a great vista around me of an actual great height. Then the air was
roaring as I fell through high clouds and I could feel it pressing against me.
The clouds broke and I was still miles above the ground. The ground closed fast
but I started slowing down, turned feet first and finally, with arms out, landed
on my feet.

It was a rush.

I've jumped off a high dam and many sheer cliffs too.

Not at all, lucid dreaming can be interesting, exiting and can take
you to a completely different universe if you like. But sometimes I
think I'd prefer to let my mind wander and have a nightmare or two now
and then. Don't get me wrong, lucid dreaming is great but it just
doesn't bring out a message for me. Nightmares can expose your unknown
fears and stimulate you in ways you never thought possible. My
nightmares would usally consist of someone chasing me and I would be
unable move or I would run slowly. (Which had something to do which my
sexual oriontation) The thing or person was a problem I was having at
the time. (Bullying)

He's an RPG character I created a quarter century ago. I've come to realize he's
a personal metaphor for my struggle and control of my Id and Ego. He's an
externalized representation of the beastal instinct and ferocious nature at odds
with restraint and reason. If you ever saw me watch a movie featuring those
really nasty bad guys, you would see my physical reaction and you wouldn't like
what I'm thinking! Yet you'd also see me reign in the emotions... mostly.

Nightbeast is a magically created creature. A man was dying after being horribly
abused by a drug gang. As the last of his life faded, he felt the anger and rage
against his attackers while still trying to hold back and make sense of what
happened. The remote area he lay in was a pool of energy, magic or otherwise,
that rebuilt him but used his last internal struggles as a blueprint. He rose as
the blend of human and beast. Not an actual feline or other actua animal but a
man whose physical features have developed as a predator, very dark fur, large
triangular ears, night sensitive eyes, claws and teeth in an enlarged muzzle.
He's an avenging spirit now rather than pure mortal being. He rides the edge
between his very overt dual nature. The beast is a superior tracker, hunter and
fighter but without the human side he would be a horrible monster. As it is he
stays *fairly* removed from the humans he protect as most treat him as a monster
plus he fears he may lose control. Pretty much an urban legend parents scare
their kids with. "YOU DID WHAT?! YOU WANT THE NIGHTBEAST TO HUNT YOU?!!"

He's cool and a great way to look at myself. Someone did a picture of him in the
4th Ed Champions RPG gamebook!

I took your advice Skytech and tried lucid dreaming.

It started off with a flood. Torrential rain cascaded from the sky, to
look upwards would cause my eyes to encounter a heavy impalement of
water. I sat in a tube of some sorts, and I and a group of others were
on a river which had no end. I could see the embankment. It was jagged
and too steep to climb, with small dying trees littering above it. I
could sense the fear between the group. Where were we going? How long
have we been here? Why are we on a river? The rocky currents hit us
and slammed us into each other, knocking some of us over and into the
cold raging water. We all continued along the river, occasionally
slowing to be submerged by a torrent of water. Slowly but surely a
figure appeared in the distance. At first it seemed it seemed to be a
large bridge or building, but as we arrived closer we saw it was a
inspection booth. Our tubes automatically aligned to one of the stalls
there and we waited for out turn to pass through. The noises I
remember coming from the stalls were similar to steam pistons moving
up and down, also there were emergency stop honks and sirens coming
from loudspeakers near the red lights spread around the stall. When it
was my turn to pass, I saw my old English Ex. Teacher inspecting
everybody who passed through. (Why her who knows.)

I could just see above the gate in front of me. The river spiked off
into two directions; one bends around a corner to what I would've
assumed was more river, and the other lead to the spillage entrance of
a processing plant. The plant itself was very large, with numerous
cars parked in its car park, many windows and lots and lots of
spillways, discharging grey liquid into the river. (This dream itself
was black and white in some parts) The gates opened and the river in
front of spiked down, like some sick kind of waterslide, and I fell. I
didn't get that 'Oh shit, there goes my stomach!' feeling when it
happened. I just sort of glided. Levelling out at the bottom I could
see my teacher up high on some stairs/scaffolding struggling to make
it back to stalls with all the water surrounding her. I tipped my tube
over and swam to the stairs to make it back up so I could help her.
Suddenly I was swept off my feet and was taken by the current, all the
way down to the river bend.

Since I wasn't in my tube anymore I could only just see what was going
on, but I did catch I good glimpse of the processing plant before it
disappeared from my line of sight. Still being swept along the river I
passed under a familiar looking bridge, and was beached upon what
seemed to be some kind of hard grass. Looking up, the rain had gone
and the river had completely disappeared. I was stuck smack bang in
the middle of a giant forest, the trees skyrocketing upward. It was at
this time I became unusually starved, and I had the desire to hunt. I
bounced between the trees, (I am still human here) searching for a
meal. I spotted two pigs feeding on the grass, so I attacked. I
pounced at the first one grabbing its neck with my teeth and I bit
down. I could feel the pressure of the skin tightening and eventually
it broke. I felt my teeth inside the pigs body; and the pigs pain and
discontent. Letting go of the pig I continued capering through the
trees, doing aerobatics and aerial tricks. (It was at this point I may
of woke up or dreamt a different dream.)

I don't know you so I can't associate your experiences with the dreams. The
river experience seems to show anxiety towards a journey. You probably see that
particular teacher as an authority figure judging and directing your actions.

The processing plant is definately a place of negativity and distress
consitering the pollution. You then enter what a virgin forest and become
naturalistic, a part of the forest. Sounds like a desire to get away from the
modern world's ills.
