Got some of this fine grade stuff
under my toenails for a spell.
It doesn't easily wash off.
And that's more than fine with me.
Hiked a trail up from the Seven Pools
through the bamboo forest to the falls.
Flooding had occurred recently.
Lots of mud all over.
Saw another barefooter, a young man.
So there was double the amount of us on the trail
as compared with forty years ago when I like hiked it last.
If that keeps up, double every forty years,
soon there will be more barefooters than ever
since the time of the elders, if there aren't already.
A reason this returns to me, today, is
when I was on the trail before, a ranger commented
that he hadn't seen anyone barefoot there since
his grandfather.
Maui mud.
I like it very much.
Brings back memories of the island.
