I've noticed that when going barefoot in warmer to hot weather--while
significantly calloused areas still show through blacktop asphalt dirt on
the soles, the soles get dirtier faster as they get tougher.

More of this is also ingrained dirt and less of this is surface dirt,
resulting in soles that appear grayish in color even after all the surface
dirt has been scrubbed clean. It just has to wear away on its own. Walking
on abrasive concrete sidewalk helps. Beach walks on soft sand just off shore
and soles soaking as part of swimming don't really help remove all of the
ingrained dirt, just slightly more of it.

This also makes the floor of showers have light black footprint spots when
some of the ingrained dirt wears away while showering. A scouring pad with
some Soft Scrub cleaner does a great job of cleaning this up. No, don't even
think about using this on the feet trying remove more dirt--look at the
ingredients and it's for tubs/sinks/toilets only, especially since it
contains Sodium Hydroxide that is more commonly known as Lye.
