Suicidal teen earns four years for killing senior

http://www.brandonsun.com/story.php?story_id=20573

WINNIPEG
A youth who deliberately drove into the path of an oncoming
car during a botched suicide bid - killing a 70-year-old man
and seriously injuring his 69-year-old wife - has been sentenced
to four years in prison. Daniel Demski, 19, had been seeking
a period of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act
after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing death. But
provincial court Judge Ken Champagne raised the matter to
adult court, saying no other sanction would be appropriate.
''His actions demonstrate a complete lack of impulse control.
He was intent on completing his path of self-destruction.''
Demski, who was 16 at the time of the incident, was upset
after seeing a female friend flirting with another boy at a
house party. "I just wanna die. I just want it to end," Demski
screamed as others tried to calm him down. His female
friend tried to wrestle the keys away and even threw herself
on the hood before he sped away. Police say Demski
deliberately smashed head-on into Bill and Marjorie
Johnston's vehicle. Bill Johnston was driving the car and
died of massive trauma.

"The army that will defeat terrorism doesn't wear uniforms, or drive
Humvies, or calls in air-strikes. It doesn't have a high command, or
high security, or a high budget. The army that can defeat terrorism
does battle quietly, clearing minefields and vaccinating children. It
undermines military dictatorships and military lobbyists. It subverts
sweatshops and special interests.Where people feel powerless, it
helps them organize for change, and where people are powerful, it
reminds them of their responsibility." ~~~~ Author Unknown ~~~~

Too bad the govt of Manitiba spends it's money building fancy show trial
courts and paying out tax dollars for false convictions. But like Ontario,
there is no money to help the kids. So we must just throw our hands up in
the air, and say it's the childs fault. Lets lock him in a cage so he can be
raped, that may fix the problem.
