New York City has gotten out of control with parking tickets.
Yes, parking tickets are a financial punishment to get the citizens of
New York to move their cars in metered spaces for turnover. In
addition to get people to move their cars so the sanitation department
can clean the streets, or to clear streets so traffic may pass
smoothly. My problem is the sheer aggressiveness by which the city has
enforced its parking laws. The agents that give out the tickets due so
in a careless manor that has a huge impact on the drivers of New York
City. A parking ticket in NYC starts at 120.00 for the most cited
violations. You have parents picking up their kids from school getting
hit with these tickets. I have seen agents wait till the motorist goes
in to get their kid from school, only to write a ticket when the
person was not there. It is the undeclared tax of NYC. It is also
enforced heavier in certain communities than others. In the Washington
Hats areas of Manhattan, there are literally fleets of tow trucks that
line up to tow cars every morning 2 minutes after the street cleaning
rules go into effect. While in the more affluent Riverdale section of
the Bronx, I have yet to see a car towed at any time.
I have written a book on fighting parking tickets. It gives a person a
shot at making a legitimate legal argument against any parking ticket.
I provide the letters and the instruction about how to include your
specific information to the letter.
As for the foolish that make such simple remarks like, "Just don't
park your car illegally and you won't get a ticket!" Clearly, have not
been to New York City as anything more than a tourist. In addition
remember to wipe the moister from behind your ears, happy!

Seems to me there's an inconsistency in your post. You suggest that parking
laws are intended to clear a path for sanitation equipment, and to
facilitate traffic flow. These seem like reasonable goals. But then you
claim that citizens who illegally park (and therefore block sanitation
equipment and block traffic flow should get a pass. Why? If these are
worthy goals, then citizens should a) not thwart them, and b) be
appropriately punished when they do. Indeed wouldn't we want an automated
system that caught 100% of the violators? What's the contradiction in this?
