I've got all the pieces for a Spectra Physics MG-532C system here (J20
power supply, external laser diode module with a reasonably healthy
diode, 532C head and associated cables) I've gotten it partially
working - it produces up to 800mW, but if I increase the diode current
past that, the output starts to decrease. I assumed the head was
rated for 2W, but it seems there used to be 200mW and 500mW versions
in addition to the 2000mW version. Mine is labeled MG-532C-400-19.
Anyone know if this is an oddball 400mW version that just maxes out at
800mW? Or what the difference is between the different power versions
- perhaps the length of Vanadate crystal and thus the amount of pump
power than can be absorbed?

Also, does anyone how to adjust the LBO heater temperature? I don't
have a remote and the software I've got doesn't have anything to set
the temp. Maybe it's one of the pots on the PCB in the head? Anyone
know what those pots do?

with the rare exception of OC changes, most lasers are built and then
graded. The difference between a 1watt and a 2 watt is the two had
better parts,in most cases.

I looked long and hard to find the difference between a I90 or Lexel
95 in a dash 4 or dash 6 version, and the answer, when I finally had
my hands on a tube processiong manual, was final test.
