Another marijuana vs. tobacco rant

I woke up early again, thanks to the unavailability of my preferred
sleep aid of choice, so I will use my brief moment of lucidity to rant
about the one drug I love, and the other that I hate with an almost
homicidal passion.

My younger brother smokes tobacco. I mean, that is ALL he does. Every
three fuckin' goddamn minutes he lights up another tobacco cigarette.
Inside, outside, in the supermarket -- it doesn't matter to him, or
matter under Nevada state law. Puff, puff, goddamn fuckin' puff. This
is considered a cherished civil right under Nevada law. Unless the
burning substance polluting the air is marijuana.

Now I happen to be discreet with my marijuana use, even going so far as
to climb up onto the roof, or hike twenty miles into the woods, to make
sure nobody catches a whiff of my illegal fumes. Those fumes shouldn't
be illegal, but they are (at least in Nevada). I don't really like
gambling, but the few times I play nickel poker I can't do so without
being exposed to a near-lethal dose of second-hand tobacco fumes from
the obsessive-compulsive nicotine-gambling addicts around me. Why?
