Hi,

I've heard the phrase "to have to quarms" with something but I can't find
"quarm" or "quarms" in any online dictionary or thesaurus.
Is this word slang? Is it based on a foreign word?
Could someone please put me straight on this issue...

Look it up under "qualm" (the "l" is silent).

Definitely not slang -- and with a solid root in Old English.

The word is 'qualms,' meaning to have concerns or reservations about
something. Probably used more in the negative way - for example 'He had no
qualms about diving straight into the water.'
