Hello All,

I was thinking if there are any rules vis-a-vis composing azad nazm. I
have read in a book by Dr. K. C. Kanda that it's not that any poem can
be termed as azad nazm. In fact with the freedom given to the poet,
the task of composition becomes even more difficult as one also must
take care of maintaining one of the basic elements of poetry -
musicality. The book also mentions few poets who are experts of "azad
nazm" in our time.

The question is if what I have just mentioned is true then what are
the crucial points that a poet must be careful about while composing
an azad nazm. Is it that some metres are compatible with other metres
while some other meters are not ? What are the constituents that make
a written piece an azad nazm ? Or is it that anything written on a
particular theme - with out conforming to some uniform structure,
metre - can be termed as an azad nazm ?

I will greatly appreciate if experts participating in this forum (
especially Raj Kumar 'Qais' Saheb) can throw some light on this.

regards,
Vikas

Vikas saaheb,

I would like to join you in this request. I prefer not to address such
requests directly to some one, but apart from Raj Kumar saaheb I would
also request Zafar saaheb to shed some light on this subject.

Jameel Sahab,

Just to make sure that I am not misunderstood, even I do not prefer
addressing specific people in a forum. From my side it was just an
attempt that at least one person will oblige :-).

regards,
Vikas
