There has been lots of controversy about who wrote these verses:
Nazakat ban nahin sakti haseenun ke banane se
Khuda jab husn deta hai nazakat aa hee jati hai

Yeh raaz tu koee raaz nahin, sub ahl-e-gulistan jante hain
Har shaakh pe ullu baitha hai anjam-e-gulistan kia ho ga

Thanks.

Take care.

Khalid SaaHib, aadaab.

The first misra3 of the first shi3r that you have quoted is found in different variations. I am afraid I don't know who the poet of this shi3r is.

The second shi3r is in fact...

barbaadii-i-gulshan kii xaatir bas ek hii ulluu kaafii thaa
har shaax pih ulluu baiThe haiN anjaam-i-gulistaaN kyaa ho gaa

Sayyid Riyasat Hussain Rizvii "Shauq" Bahraa'ichii

Khalid SaaHib aadaab.

As I am a healthy kind of person, I stay away from doctors!:-) Should I know Dr. Sohail Maqbool, whoever he is?

He is an old friend of mine. He is a walking encyclopedia of Urdu poetry and its history. He has hundreds of Urdu books on this subject including numerous diwans of the poets. He, however, doesn't use computers - not even e-mail! So, he is wasting his knowledge by not sharing it with the others in an open forum like this or WhatsApp etc. All my persuasions have failed to convince him. I communicate with him only by phone. Are you located in the USA? If so, then he might be willing to speak with you.
Best wishes.

aadaab Khalid sahib,

Let me also welcome you to Alup. Our group is not as active as it has been in the years past, but in my book it is still the best place to be for all things related to Urdu poetry. Great to have a new member like you join us.

Your friend Dr Maqbool sounds wonderful, he reminds me of some of my dad's friends, I can sit around and listen to them talk about Urdu poetry for hours, heavenly. I also used to know another gentleman like that, Azhar sahib. I consider him one of my ustaads and learned a lot from him. Azhar sahib was also an encyclopedia of Urdu poetry, sadly he passed away a few years ago.

Oh, and I am ok if you tell me to "take care", coming for a medical doctor it sounds almost like a blessing. :)

Regards,

Naseer Saheb,

I doubt whether you will be able to speak to him,
as no phone number has been provided....

And, besides, you don't live in the US --- though
you do live in the hearts and minds of quit a few
Us-wallahs.........

And since the abovenamed person doesn't use
computers, even sending him an e-mail is out
of the question.

But, if Mr. Khalid can somehow contact him, I suggest
the following misra' by 'Allama Iqbal would be quite
appropriate :

BaKHeeli hai, yeh razzaqi naheeN hai
