Here is the complete ghazal.

jab hua irfaan to gham aaraam-e-jaaN banta gaya
soz-e-jaanaaN dil men soz-e-deegaraaN banta gaya

rafta rafta munqalib hoti gai rasm-e-chaman
dheere dheere naghma-e-dil bhi fughaaN banta gaya

maiN akaila hi chala tha jaanab-e-manzil magar
log saath aate gaye aur kaaravaaN banta gaya

maiN to jab jaanooN keh bhar de saaghar-e-har khaas-o-aam
yooN to jo aaya vuhi peer-e-mughaaN banta gaya

jis taraf bhi chal paRe ham aablah paayaan-e-shauq
khaar se gul aur gul se gulsitaaN banta gaya

shaara'-e-gham to mukhtasar hoti ga'i unke huzoor
lafz jo muNh se na nikla daastaaN banta gaya

dehr meN Majrooh ko'ee jaavedaaN mazmooN kahaN
maiN jise chhoota gaya vuh jaavedaaN banta gaya

Bahut bahut shukiya Vijay Sahib.
Lagta hai ki ye ghazal bhi kaarvaan ki tarah hi puri hogi. 2 sher aur lijiye.

jis taraf bhii chal pa.De ham aabalaa paayaan-e-shauq
Khaar se gul aur gul se gulasitaa.N banataa gayaa

Dehr mein Majrooh koi javidan mazmoon kahan,
main jise chhoota gaya woh javidan banta gaya

Jamil Sahib, thanks for posting this beautiful ghazal.

Would you kindly explain the word 'shaara'. If pronounced as written, then
the misra is out of meter in that 'to' is redundent; unless it is
'shaar-e-gham'. In either case, I will be much obliged if you would give us
the meaning of this word. Thanks.

Regards,

Vijay Kumar

The word is shar'h --- an exposition, explanation, interpretation, etc.

Raj Kumar Sahib

As Vijay Sahib has pointed out, the misra' is clearly out of behr with
the word "sahaara'-e-gham" as I had typed it. The correct word,
according to my source, is "shar'-e-gham" (sheen, re, 'ain), which
means path. The Arabic words sharee'at (or, sharee'a = law), mashroo'
(project), shuroo' (start), shaara' (highway), shar'ee (legitimate)are
all derived from the same root.

Of course, sharh-e-gham would also be suitable both for the reasons of
meter and meaning.

whats is meaning of this sher "log judte gaye aur karwan banta gaya" that makes it such a great sher? what is the interpretation here?

it is an oft quoted couplet. written by majrooh sultanpuri.

mai.n akelaa hee chalaa thaa jaanib e manzil magar
log saath aate gaye aur kaarvaa.n bantaa gayaa

it refers to the power of one. that journeys of many miles begin with a single step. or as the poet says

when i started towards my destination, i was all alone in my efforts
but as i made progress, others came forward and joined me and we became a force to reckon with.

the correct version of the couplet is actually "Gair saath aate gaye" but log saath aate gaye is a more referred to version.

Hope this helps

The doctor looked at the inert body, said wistfully, "She could have been saved with timely medical help."
Dashrath Manjhi said nothing, complete blank in his glassy eyes. We don't hear our social phobias analyzed in our head, the process happens invisible to our consciousness. Sometimes when the reward is enough we overcome social barbs and jibs and take the counter path but mostly toe our peers' line. Manjhi came back home, for few days did nothing;.villagers came, did the small talk and left him alone to his private thoughts. Then he took his shovel walked over to the base of mountain began cutting the hard rocks and removing soil ....

For 22 years he silently went on to feed his obsession. Initial shock, surprise then reasoning and then jibs and finally acceptance of a fruitless venture; villager left him to his hopeless ways. Gradually a path began to emerge heading towards a mammoth stone wall. Occasionally his son would accompany him just to humor him. And then no one noticed him, he became part of the inanimate scene...

Eventually, when the top of the mountain was cut down the middle, it no longer looked like a fruitless venture, one by one they took their shovel began helping him..

An average man born without any special gift, if anybody deserves Bharat Ratna, he does.
