The national libraryof poetry sucks and is one of the biggest rip offs that
I know of. I sent them a poem 3 or 4 years ago and they said that it was
published in a book called Whispers At Dusk, however I am not sure if it
ever was. The book is sold for $60 from them and $70 at Barnes and Noble.
They are selling my poem in a book for 60 or 70 bucks and that is how much I
have to pay to see my artwork published. They are making 60-70 per book
they sell while me and the hundreds of others who brought the book get
nothing but a pile of bullshit on how good my work really is. They told me
that my Poem was so good that they wanted to put it on tape with a couple of
other elite poems, someone I know in my town got the same "special
privaliage", of course they asked for 20 bucks for the tape. I am 18 now, I
was 13 or 14 at the time, at the time I was so happy that this company got
my hopes up that my poem was really good, but now am much more mature and am
glad that I listened to my dad and didn't blow $100 bucks of my hared earned
money on it. I hope that everyone who reads this heeds my warning, DO NOT
DEAL WITH THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF POETRY, THEY ARE JUST A BIG RIPOFF, DO NOT
GIVE THEM ANY MONEY BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST RIPPING IT OFF! I went to local
library and they had never heard of the book, they searched there computer
and couldn't find a library in Maine that had this book. I am warning you
do not waste your time with them. They have a site on the net at
www.poetry.com,, where they go on and on about how prestigise they're, they
are prestigise they are pricks. I am posting this message on all the poetry
newsgroups out there, and I hope you will get the word out about the
National Library Of Poetry, and what a rip off they are!!!!!! As My dad
said if they really were ligit the would give me the book free for making
big bucks off my poem, which by the way wasn't all that good, but according
to them was FANTANTIC. My local TV station did a story on them and came out
to the same conclusion, they are con artists making big bucks off you and
getting your hopes up for nothing!

This guy knows what he's talking about. The same thing happened to me this
year. I sent them the money for my own copy and gave them permission to put my
poem on tape and ever since then they have only been sending me things asking
for money. They even said they would induct me into their "Hall of Fame." For
a small fee of $140 of course. This was the first real poem I've ever written,
it's not THAT good. They also claim that if I keep sending them more poems
they'll publish my very own edition of their book, for another small fee of
about $200. This is absolute B.S!

Thanks for telling us about this scam. They have been sending me letters asking
for submissions too. And I always wondered why it didn't say anywhere in those
letters that they would send me a copy of the anthology if my work is published
in it. Now I know all I have to do when I get another letter from them is toss
in the trash can with all the other junk mail!
Thanks once again!
