jung maslon ka hal kiya deygee?
khoon aur aag aaj bakhshay gee

is liye aye "shareef insaanon"
jung taltee rahay tau behtar hai,
aap aur hum sabhee ke aangan mein
shama jaltee rahay tau behtar hai!
bartaree kay soobooth ki khatir
khoon bahaana hee kiya zaroori hai???
ghar ki taareekiian mitaanay ko
ghar jalaana hee kiya zarooree hai?????
This naz'm is by Sahir Ludhianvi and he called it "Ai Shareef Insaano".
He wrote it about the Indo-Pak war and presented it at the first
anniversary of Tashkant agreement. It is included in his
collection "aao ki koi khwaab buneN".
If you liked it, you should also read his 'parcchayiaaN' and 'Khoon
phir Khoon hai".
Respectfully,
Vijay Kumar

---Share what you know. Learn what you don't.---
Thanks for the information on the writer of this nazm. Surprising that a
person should come on Calgary TV --read the Nazm and not mention a name
like Sahir Ji. Would really appreciate though--if by chance you have the
other 2 --"parchayian" and "khoon phir khoon hai" and the entire nazm "
aao ke koi khwaab bunein" --and can find time to post on this forum.
Yours cordially!
Abida
Sorry in my earlier message "Aao ke koi khwaab bunein" should have read
"aay shareef insaanon"! Wasn't expecting you to post an entire
collection !
Just wondering --no offense meant--how come we are conversing in English
in an Urdu forum????
Abida

I will post "Ai shariif insaano" and "Khoon phir Khoon hai" in my
subsequent postings.

How come, we are conversing in English at an Urdu forum?
baat yeh hai, Abida Sahiba, ke hamaare bahut se dost (perhaps, including
yourself) find it more convenient to express themselves in English
rather than in Urdu --- despite the fact that they love Urdu dearly.
khair, haqeeqat kuchh bhi ho magar aap ke sawaal ne mujhe aek nihaayat
maze-daar she'r yaad dilaa diya (jise main ne kayee jagah barhi
khush-usloobi se iste'maal kiya hai). she'r arz hai:
chataai ki jagah kiyoon maikade mein mez hai saaqi?
na main angrez hoon saaqi, na tu angrez hai saaqi!!!

I think so too -writing Urdu in English script is "mighty tedious " not
just a "wee bit tedious"!!! I have no problem conversing in English.
Thanks kindly for the 3 stanzas from the nazm "parchayian"! With the
latest developments in the sub-continent today ---this poem does set a
very sad tone---doesn't it???
I will await "just a taste" of the other 2 nazms! Only a couple of
stanzas at your own convenience---would be just fine!
Yours thankfully,
Abida

Wah !!!kiya mozoon sher Irshad farmaya aap nay!
Hum ko khud bhi bohot mushkil lagta hai--English mein sochna--aur Urdu
mein translate kar kay phir se English script mein likhna!
Ab patta chala ke hum akele nahin hein is mushkil mein!
Hum samjhay shaid is forum mein English mein baat karna mana hoga.
Shukriya aap nay wazahat kar dee!
Yours thankfully,

mujhe poori ummeed thi ke yeh she'r aap ko pasand aaye ga. Just for
farmaate hain
"zaraa nam ho to yeh mitti bahut zar-khez hai saaqi".
The implications of this misra' are enormous! hamen zindagi mein hazaar
baar aise haalaat se do-chaar hona parhta hai jahaan, sab kuchh hote
huye bhi, kisi aek cheez ki kami hone se hum kuchh bhi naheen kar paate.
aise mauqe' par yeh misra' hamaari majbooriyon ka aa'eena-daar banta
hai!
baaqi, yeh jo Urdu-Angrezi ki baat hai, hamaara matlab to aek doosre ki
madad se Urdu shaa'iri ko samajhna aur us se faiz uthaana hi to hai. is
liye, jise jo bhi medium aasaan lage, woh usi medium ka iste'maal kare;
aisa karne mein koi harj naheen hai.
goya, yahaan Angrezi medium ka iste'maal mana' naheen hai.
phir bhi, agar aap himmat kar ke apne khayaalaat Urdu mein bayaan karen
to 'sone par suhaage' waali baat hogi!

Nagesh Sahib:
It is quite well-established by now that one may use either Urdu or
English as one's medium of communication while posting at ALUP. That
fact of choice has never been in dispute.
Our purpose over here is to enjoy Urdu poetry together as well as to
enhance our understanding of its nuances and mysteries through mutual
help; to achieve that end,
whatever medium we employ is fine!
As regards your 'attribution of wrong gender to inanimate objects' is
concerned,
I am not unduly surprised --- though I haven't seen any signs of it in
your postings. The reason might be that you make these 'gaffes' only in
oral conversation and not in the written word. Moreover, in writing, you
generally employ English as your medium --- which robs us of any
opportunities that we could have had to enjoy these 'gaffes' ourselves.
Nevertheless, I do hope that these gender-benders are confined to
inanimate objects only! :-))

This is such a touching NAZM too! Thanks a lot for sharing this with us

BTW what is "threedots" referring to at the end of each verse???
Yours cordially!
