ALUPers,

We are throwing a surprise birthday party for one of my good friends
who is turning 40 next weekend (the actual party is on Oct 8th). Can
anybody provide me with some good ashaar to tease him about getting
old.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the complete name of
the ShA`ir offhand, but I'm sure that Hariharan has
sung this one in one of his albums.

I've been away from ALUP for way too long. Have a lot
to catch up with - time permitting.

sab se pehle to aap apne dost ka hamaari taraf se shukriya ada kiijiye,
isii bahaane aap Alup par aaye to sahii!

And, in this day and age, who says turning 40 is getting old?! I've
heard that life actually begins at forty!!!

so merii maaniye to aap apne dost kii nazr Hafeez Jallandhri Sahib kii
mashHuur-e-zamaana nazm "abhii to maiN javaan huuN" kar diijiye!!

vaise bu.Dhaape ke zikr par mujhe Nazeer Akbarabadi kii yeh nazm bhii
yaad aa gayi:

sab chiiz ko hotaa hai bura, haaye bu.Dhaapa!
aashiq ko to Allah na dikhlaaye bu.Dhaapa!!

Jalaali Uttar Pradesh meN Aligarh ke qariib ek shehr hai.

Qamar Jalaalvi ka ek aur sher sun leejiye:

"zabt kartaa huuN to GhuT-taa hai qafas meN miraa dam
aah kartaa huuN to saiyaad Khafaa hotaa hai"
