Ghazal by Faiz

Now that "gham'e'doraa(n)" has afforded me some time to start keeping up
with ALUP, I will try and post some new stuff. I used to post a lot of
poetry, mostly Faiz in '94 and '95. Unfortunately I lost all my saved
files after I left school. I was wondering if someone has saved that
stuff and would be kind enough to mail it to me.
Here's a beautiful ghazal by Faiz.
hum per tumharee chah kaa ilzaam hee to hai
dashnaam to nahee(n) hai, yeh ikraam hee to hai
kartay hei(n) jis peh ta'an koee jurm to nahee(n)
shoq'e'fazool'o'ulfate'e'naakam hee to hai
dil naa'umeed to nahee(n), nakaam hee to hai
lambee hai ghum kee shaam, magar shaam hee to hai
dasht'e'falak mei(n) gardash'e'taqdeer to nahee(n)
dast'e'falak mei(n) gardash'e'ayaam hee to hai
bheegee hai raat Faiz ghazal ibtada karo
waqt'e'sarood, dard kaa hangaam hee to hai

There's one more beautiful shair to this ghazal that, I think, goes
something like this:
Dil muD'aee ke harf-e-malaamaT se shaaD hai
aye jaan-e-jaaN yeh Teraa naam hee To hai
Please send the correct one if this one's wrong.

I have updated the ghazal with the two missing shers to make it
complete.

So this is where these lines come from! when I heard this sher in the only
good song from 1942 ALS, I was wondering.

I wish to say the following about Faiz Ahmed Faiz in Urdu during a
presentation I am to make:
Khawateen-o-hazraat, ( one of the most famous poets of the 20th century
or contemporary era ), janaab Faiz Ahmed Faiz koi ta'arruf ke muhtaj
nahin hai. To yeh lijiye unki ek nazm pesh-e-khidmat hai, jiska (title)
hai "Duaa"
Can someone please translate the stuff above in parentheses, which is in
English, to Urdu?
Can someone also please explain me the meaning of the following phrases:
nigaar-e-hasti
sarr-e-nihaan
shireeni-e-fardaan
zahar-e-imaroz

nigaar-e-hasti =beauty of existence
sarr-e-nihaan=hidden secret
shireeni-e-fardaan=sweetness of tomorrow, or the sweetness that tomorrow will
bring
zahar-e-imaroz=the poison that today is

For 'title' you can say either 'naam' or 'unvaan'.
For the phrase in question, there are, of course, many different renderings
possible. Here is one :

if the first word is sar then it could mean a few things depending
on the context it's used in. "nihaan" means hidden/concealed
"sar" can mean a lot of things depending on the context it's used in
like head/top/pinnacle/origion
> shireeni-e-fardaan
sweetness/pleasntness of a person
> zahar-e-imaroz
the last word I believe is "imroz" meaning today
zahr-e-imroz= posion of today
most probably implying evil's of today

Is tarah hai ke pa..se..parda koi hair hai
jis ne aafaq pe dala hai kise seahr ka daam
damane-waqt se pevast hai youn damn-e -shaam
ki ab shaam dhalegi na andhera hoga
na ab raat dhalegi na savera hooga
aasmaan aas lagaye hai ke yeh jadoo toote
chup ki zanjir kate waqt ka daman toote
de koi sankh(Konch..in english) duhai koi moorat dole
Koi bu~t jage koi sanwale ghoogat khole.
