Can anyone translate the following to English?

O salutarius Hostia,
Quae caeli pandas ostium:
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxilium.

Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna Gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.

Thanks.

You can find E. Caswall's paraphrased translation at either of the following:

0 saving Victim opening wide 0 salutaris Hostia
The gate of heaven to man below Quae caeli pandas ostium:
Our foes press on from every side; Bella premunt hostilia,
Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow. Da robur, fer auxilium.

To thy great name be endless praise, Uni trinoque Domino
Immortal Godhead, one in three; Sit sempiterna gloria,
Oh, grant us endless length of days Qui vitam sine termino
In our true native land with thee. Nobis donet in patria.
Amen. Amen.

J.P.

Here's a word-for-word translation. Most Medieval Latin hymns (not just
those composed by Thomas Aquinas) are very straightforward and don't
have the pietistic coating they are often given in English translations:

O salutarius Hostia, O saving victim/host
Quae caeli pandas ostium: that of heaven opens the gate
Bella premunt hostilia, wars press down on us (hostile wars),
Da robur, fer auxilium. Give strength, bring help.
> >
Uni trinoque Domino To the one and threefold God
Sit sempiterna Gloria, may there be everlasting glory
Qui vitam sine termino who, life without end,
Nobis donet in patria. us gives in our native land (i.e. heaven).
