Can anyone shed some light on whether the word "chehra" descends from
the Anglo-Norman word chere meaning "the face" ?

Thanks and regards,

chehra is a persian word meaning the face. Most probably its an
application of word chehar which means four. Since face too has
roughly four sides. to give another evidence in hindi a word that is
used for face is chaukhata... literally meaning something that has
four sides.
