pn: Imelda Papin set to marry former solon

Legazpi City, Jan. 12 (PNA) -- Wedding bells are soon to ring for
Camarines Sur Vice Governor and once "Asia's Most Sentimental
Songstress", Imelda Papin in this Year of the Rabbit.
Papin said in a press conference held in Naga City last week
that, she along with her boyfriend, former Bukidnon Rep. Al Lopez, have
decided to settle down for good after six years of engagement.
"We've been on for six years, though we might have done it
earlier knowing we really love each other, but we had an agreement to
defer it for a while and concentrate on our careers", Papin said.
There has been no specific date and venue of the wedding yet,
but Papin has assured the media and her constituents that it will be
held in Camarines Sur this year, adding "we're not getting any younger
and I'm taking our relationship very seriously".
Along with the date and venue, the couple-to-be has yet to
decide the list of "ninongs at ninangs (sponsors)" in the planned
marriage.
A source from Papin's camp said the songstress, who was elected
vice governor May last year has been planning to persuade Camarines Sur
Gov. Luis Villafuerte to stand as among the principal sponsors of the
much-awaited wedding rites.
Another source, this time from Villafuerte's camp also said that
Villafuerte, despite the political incompatibility between the two
elected officials which has become a public knowledge in the province,
has expressed willingness to take the offer.
Papin's supporters and well-wishers have also expressed liking of
the former congressman of Bukdnon.
Lopez, a three-termer congressman belongs to a clan of politicians
and public servants.
It was learned that both his father and grandfather served as
mayor of Bukidnon. The elder Lopez served for 20 years undefeated as
