FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City, March 11 (PNA)---The Philippine
Military Academy (PMA) officially released Wednesday afternoon the top
10 and other awardees of the graduation PMA "Masikhay" Class of 1999.

Commodore Juan de Leon, PMA superintendent said Cadet Arlene A.
de la Cruz will be the first female graduate who will graduate from the
academy as topnotcher.

The orphan who was born in Quezon City was raised by her mother
Catalina Banua plays basketball and loves to read. She will graduate
Cum Laude, and recipient of the Presidential Saber, Philippine Navy
Saber, Navy Courses Plaque, Humanities Plaque and Social Sciences
Plaque.

Cadet Peter George R. Gelicame of Antequera , Bohol is the
class salutotorian. He will receive the Vice Presidential Saber,
Commanding General Philippine Air Force Award . The eldest son of a
carpenter and housewife graduates as Magna Cum Laude and recipient of
Distinguished Cadet Star. He will join the Philippine Air Force.

The Class Baron Domingo S. Robles, Jr. who ranked third and
graduates as Magna Cum Laude will receive the Secretary of National
Defense Saber, the Chief of Staff Saber and Commanding General
Philippine Army Saber. The son of a retired military officer and who
had a sister who graduated from the academy ahead of him will join the
Philippine Army.

The other awardees were:

---Cadet Thomas Ryan R. Sequin, fourth placer, from Davao del
Norte, recipient of the Aguinaldo Saber, Physical Sciences Plaque,
Engineering Sciences Plaque, and Distinguished Cadet Star;

----Cadet Nida P. Gutierrez, fifth placer, of Solana, Cagayan,
who will receive the Army Courses Plaque and Management Plaque;

---Cadet Jason Rom J. Lacida from Iligan Cddity, Magna Cum
Laude and will receive the Physical Education Plaque;

---Cadet Abraham June G. Cloma, seventh placer , Magna Cum
Laude; He is from Tagbilaran City;

---Cadet Edgardo V. Talaroc, Jr. from Lugait, Misamis Oriental,
is the eighth placer, and will receive the Distinguished Cadet Star for
being consistently included in the Superintendent's List;

---Cadet Noel B. Escalona of Dumaguet City, ninth placer, awardee of
the Distinguished Cadet Star for also being in the Superintendent's
List; and

---Cadet Sherwin Romulo S. Agag, the 10th placer from San
Miguel, Bulacan, who graduates as Cum Laude.

Cadet Rodolfo B. Curray, Jr. of Sampaloc, Manila is the goat
or the 216th of the 216 -strong class. He admitted that he had to join
the academy for financial constraints of his parents to send him to
college.

According to de Leon, other outstanding graduating cadets are:

---Cadet Johann Jake B. Miranda who will receive the Journalism
Award and the Computing and Information Sciences Plaque;

---Cadet Francisco Ashley Acedillo who will receive the
Association of Flag Officers Award for being number one in History
Courses;

---Cadet Hector Dongail who will receive the Athletic Saber
Award;

--- also graduating as Magna Cum laude: Cadet Allen Van L.
Estrera and Cadet Egver Jonathan A. Abutin;

---also graduating as Cum Laude: Cadets Emmanuel Cabahug, Ervin
Divina Gracia, Emmanuel Delgado, Joshua Leones, Jerry Tucaqui, Jonathan
Dapuyen, Falco Iliumar Dingal and Roman Maborrang. (PNA)
