But Hong Kong's biggest movie export, the star of "Rush Hour"
and "Rumble In The Bronx", refused to confirm whether he was the
father of Wu's child, only saying he would take responsibility if
the baby turned out to be his.
Chan's admission to having an affair with the 27-year-old Wu, 18
years his junior, was Thursday splashed across major newspapers in
Hong Kong where the actor has superstar status.
"I'm not a saint. I've done something wrong. I've done something
that many men in this world have done wrong, too," Chan told
reporters when he returned to the territory late Wednesday to end
month-long media speculation about his liaison with Wu.
The scandal broke when mass market newspapers said Wu, the 1990
Miss Asia, was pregnant and reportedly hinted that Chan was the
father.
Chan has been married to former Taiwanese star Lin Feng-chaio
for 18 years and has a son, Jackson, who is 15.
"I've let my family down but I'm very lucky," Chan said. "My
wife has forgiven me ... She's supported me all these years, she
will do so now."
